Jan 31, 2018 - crate 61 organics lemongrass soap

Our family likes to try new soaps. There are so many to choose from, so many scents and so many different styles. Carefully pick them and they’re relatively inexpensive too. Pick extra carefully and you might even get decent ingredients.

See this bar of Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap? Well, we picked it up on sale as a combo pack which meant each bar was just under $2. Particularly enticing was the scent: lemongrass? We’ve never tried lemongrass scented soap before so decided to give it a go. – Continue Reading

Jun 3, 2016 - lafes crystal deodorant stone

You know summer is just around the corner and with that comes sweat. Sure, we sweat during all the other seasons too but you know and I know people seem to sweat a whole lot more during those hot summer days.

Not everyone is a big fan of antiperspirant and heavily scented deodorants can be overwhelming. At the same time, so is body odour.

A possible alternative? What about a mineral salt stick like Lafe’s crystal deodorant stone? Now, I’m not saying you should buy Lafe’s crystal deodorant stone or that it’s the only brand that carries mineral salt sticks but it is something to think about. I mean, as a consumer, information is valuable. – Continue Reading

Oct 19, 2015 - weleda citrus hydrating body lotion

Cooler weather and you know dry skin is right there with it. Naturally then, I’d be on the lookout for new skincare products that might help during this time of the year. Lo and behold, I came across this sample for the Weleda Citrus Hydrating Body Lotion. The smell of citrus is always enticing and refreshing and it claimed to be hydrating so I couldn’t resist and decided to give it a try.

Let’s just say I’m happy I did. – Continue Reading

Sep 17, 2015 - pure anada cocoa mint lip balm

Okay, I might as well just come right out and say it: I LOVE this chapstick. The Pure Anada Cocoa Mint lip balm glides on smoothly and leaves a minty zing on my lips. My lips feel nourished and refreshed.

Well, I could leave this product review at just that but I’m sure you’d want a few details right? – Continue Reading

Jul 7, 2015 - green beaver citrus natural deodorantIt is obviously summer time which means we’re all going to sweat a little more. Now, I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of antiperspirants. I hate sweating and I hate to be smelly but I’d rather not use antiperspirants unless I really have no choice.

Speaking of choice let me introduce you to the Green Beaver Citrus Natural Deodorant. I came across the Green Beaver Citrus Natural Deodorant during a recent sale at my local health food store. I purchased 2 Green Beaver Citrus Natural Deodorants for the price of 1 which meant each cost less than the average stick of antiperspirant.

With a really great list of ingredients and an even better price point, how could I resist? – Continue Reading

Feb 5, 2015 - sukin antioxidant eye serumCopyright© 2015 All Rights Reserved.

I like Sukin skin products. They’re made well with quality ingredients and are available at an affordable price. If you want consumers to switch over to better ingredients, having a decent price point is important.

Enter Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum, my most recent love. I’ve reviewed some of their other skin care products before and I decided to test out their eye serum because hey, my eye area needs help too and deserves to be taken care of. Besides, on top of being affordable, the Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum was also on sale.

Translation: perfect for a test run! – Continue Reading

Jan 19, 2015 - shea all naturals cocoa shea butterCopyright© 2015 All Rights Reserved.

Dry, itchy, winter skin, you might as well call me sandpaper. Correction: I’m not the only one suffering at the moment. The entire family has dry skin and we all have our chosen preferred skin creams to save the day. That being said, we still like to test out different brands of skin creams, lotions, and butters to see if there might be a new one to add to our existing skin care repertoire.

Enter Shea All Naturals Cocoa Shea Butter. I found it at my local health food store, on sale for about $15 for an 8 oz/255 mL jar. The ingredients looked promising so I took it home with me for a winter test drive.

Dec 2, 2014 - nexcare skin crack careCopyright© 2014 All Rights Reserved.

Cold weather hits and despite my best efforts, I can feel the skin on my hands cracking. All that hand washing adds up even when I moisturize and drink a lot of water.

Then it hits. Yep, that one split in my skin that hurts super duper a lot (all grammar thrown out the window). Sometimes, it’s right between my finger and finger nail. Sometimes, it’s right along a knuckle where all the bending happens. A bandage doesn’t stay, it’s doesn’t help, and it just plain old hurts.

That’s where Nexcare Skin Crack Care comes in handy. – Continue Reading

Oct 4, 2014 - andalou naturals sunflower and citrus shampooCopyright© 2014 All Rights Reserved.

Soaps, shampoos. You know, the stuff that gets all sudsy. Most of that stuff is full of questionable chemicals (sodium lauryl sulfate, SLS, I’m staring right at you) so if I can, I try to test other options to see if they’d be a good fit for our family.

On this particular occasion, I picked up a bottle of Andalou Naturals Sunflower and Citrus Shampoo. Why this one? Well, mainly because the Andalou Naturals Sunflower and Citrus Shampoo was designed for colour treated hair and yep, I do dye my hair (see the Herbatint review I do way back when). I’ve been looking for a natural shampoo that will work with colour treated hair and my sensitive skin. Fingers crossed the Andalou Naturals Sunflower and Citrus Shampoo will work for me!
