Whenever I think of Earth Day, I think of this picture my daughter made for me a few years back. It was one of those magical moments when she just brought the picture up to me and told me she had drawn the Earth.  The mind of a child is a beautiful thing.

Today is April 22, 2013,  Earth Day, a day we devote to all that is good on this Earth and a day to make a positive change. Whatever you do today, think and consider the impact you may be having on this world but let us do it everyday and not JUST today.

Over the course of the past few years, our family has made a more conscious effort to green up our lives. We use glass more often and try to reduce our reliance on plastic items. We use vinegar and water to do most of our daily household cleaning and we try to remember to turn off the lights when they’re not needed. In our daughter’s school, the children are encouraged to use both sides of each sheet of paper and correspondence is digital whenever possible.

If you’re a coffee lover, you probably already know that Starbucks is giving out free coffee to anyone who shows up with a tumbler or mug.  You even have your choice of coffee, tea, iced coffee or iced tea. Sure, they’re hoping you’ll buying something else too but it’s still a nice gesture especially if you were going to get a paper cup that day anyway.  The notice was printed on my receipt but I only checked it today or I would have posted it sooner.  Now, I’m not sure if this is global, so do check your local Starbucks for more details.

To all our readers at ThingsThatWeDo.com, let’s continue making Earth a better place to live. Let’s make it cleaner and healthier for our children and our children’s children and our children’s children’s children….
