thingsthawedo.com - inside out movieThe big kid and I haven’t watched a movie in the theatre in ages. No particular reason, there just hasn’t been time. We’ve watched a few movies at home (which note to self: we still have to review) but going to the theatres just seemed like a chore.

That is, until we saw the Inside Out trailer and decided a trip to the movie theatre was mandatory. Inside Out is a children’s animated movie that’s been in theatres for a few weeks now but boy am I glad we saw it in the theatres. Inside Out is a children’s movie that makes me think, it makes me reflect, and more importantly it reminds me of how important all our emotions are.

I kid you not, I cried 3 times while I watched the movie. There is so much I want to say and I can’t quite figure out how to say it all without completely confusing all of you. So, let me talk for a bit with fair warning that you might read some cryptic spoilers below.

I seriously can’t do justice to the Inside Out movie with words alone. You’ll just have to sit through it, feel it, and take it all in. The big kid and I both loved the movie and while she didn’t cry, I know it had an effect on her as well. After the movie, we rehashed different scenes, talked about different characters, and we even purchased a fantastic Inside Out book that I’ll have to write a review about soon.

I think the Inside Out movie is a great plug for mental health awareness which may make NO sense to you if you haven’t watched the movie yet. I think it sends an important reminder to all of us “Hi, yes, I’m fine” automatic-response humans that it is okay to have a wide range of emotions. We all function a lot better when we can embrace those different emotions instead of casting certain emotions or feelings to the side.

I can’t even begin to tell you about Bing Bong without getting teary.

Sigh.

You’ll just have to go watch the Inside Out movie.

If I can get my thoughts in order I’ll post a better movie review later on. For now, this will have to do.
