Our family likes to try new soaps. There are so many to choose from, so many scents and so many different styles. Carefully pick them and they’re relatively inexpensive too. Pick extra carefully and you might even get decent ingredients.
See this bar of Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap? Well, we picked it up on sale as a combo pack which meant each bar was just under $2. Particularly enticing was the scent: lemongrass? We’ve never tried lemongrass scented soap before so decided to give it a go.
So, what ingredients are in the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap?
Here are the ingredients that went into the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap: Saponified: olive fruit oil, palm oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, lemon oil, lemongrass oil, lemon essential oil, lemongrass leaves.
The ingredients sound great, basic, words I recognize. The only thing that seems to be missing is the word ‘organic’. I don’t know why. My guess is the company is called Crate 61 Organics. I visit the website and that seems to confirm my thought process. They do seem to carry other products that are organic. It just so happens that this bar of lemongrass soap isn’t.
Since I was on the Crate 61 Organics website, I decided to take a closer look at this bar of soap (don’t worry, I’ve included a link to their site at the end of this post) and learned that lemongrass soap is great for battling acne given that the essential oils used have anti-bacterial qualities.
I had no idea! So, that was an added bonus. Here’s another added bonus. Check it out:
Even more, visit their website, click on the ‘ingredients’ tab and you’ll learn further details about each of the ingredients used and where they come from. That’s a lot of noticeable and commendable effort in choosing quality ingredients for their products.
Do I mind that the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap doesn’t seem to be made with organic ingredients?
Not at all.
The best part of this bar of soap are all the other words that are missing. Words like sodium lauryl sulfate and other more chemical based ick that our family tries to avoid. When we’re out and about at restaurants and other public places, we have less control over what we eat and use. So, if we can, we try to go a little more basic at home.
This bar of Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap totally fits into that category.
Well, is the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap any good?
Most people would say, ‘what’s the difference? Soap is just soap.’ And for the most part, that may be true. However, it is winter where we are. The air is dry and cold and constant hand washing (on top of washing dishes, doing chores, being out in the cold) is just brutal on the hands.
This is where soap like the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap comes in handy (pun intended). It has an invigorating lemongrass scent which is noticeable but not overwhelming. I also like the little bits of lemongrass intermingled throughout the bar of soap.
Did the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap lather well?
Yes, it did.
Did the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap leave my hands feeling soft and nourished?
Yes, definitely more so than the standard bar of liquid soap.
Does that mean it’ll do wonders for you?
I have no idea. Given that my skin seems to be on the sensitive picky side, more natural soaps like this bar of Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap does seem to make my hands feel a lot better than, let’s say, the liquid stuff we have at work. A day at work and my hands would scream for affection if it weren’t for the hand lotion.
Is there anything I don’t like about the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap?
Well…just one thing. The Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap does seem to goop up after a few uses. I’ve noticed that about bar soaps. Some hold their shape quite well while others seem to do the whole ice cream ooze. I don’t know why, likely the choice of ingredients used or how the soap is made. If there was one thing I’d change about the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap, I’d say to somehow minimize the ooze factor. I didn’t take an actual photo of the ooze, it looked a little gross but this is what the soap looks like with use.
Other than that, the Crate 61 Organics Lemongrass Soap was a big hit!
