This was a random buy. I was intrigued. Pita crisps? Chia and quinoa? Hm…The Sensible Portions Chia and Quinoa Pita Crisps looked promising. Non GMO, quinoa and chia seeds, no cholesterol or trans fats, the Sensible Portions Chia and Quinoa Pita Crisps seemed like an ideal school snack alternative.
Cut to the chase: so happy I discovered this product!
Product review: what ingredients are in the Sensible Portions Chia and Quinoa Pita Crisps?
Here are the ingredients that went into the Sensible Portions Chia and Quinoa Pita Crisps: unbleached wheat flour, sunflower oil, chia seed, wheat gluten, sea salt, yeast, quinoa, malt syrup, baking powder, natural flavour, wheat starch, ascorbic acid, rosemary extract.
Well…it’s an alternative snack option, right and overall, I’d say the ingredient list is decent when you consider this as part of the snack roster. I’d rather sunflower oil wasn’t the second ingredient on the list but at least the word ‘hydrogenated’ doesn’t show up anywhere and it’s non GMO which is more than I can say for many other packaged foods.
Cute and yummy!
Take a look at the Sensible Portions Chia and Quinoa Pita Crisps.
They’re perfectly adorable, deliciously crunchy and crisp. In my opinion, they happen to be the perfect thickness with a really great hearty snap and I really appreciate the chia seeds and quinoa. There’s a really great flavour: savory with a slight nuttiness that likely comes from the chia seeds and quinoa that I don’t find with other pita type crackers.
The pita crisps are not too thin and not too thick.
These Sensible Portions Pita Crisps are perfect as is and are dangerously yummy. If I didn’t compose myself I would have easily eaten the entire bag!
About the packaging…
Let me take a moment to point out the interesting choice for packaging. Like many other packaged crackers, this one came in a little pouch. Unlike many other packaged crackers, this one came with a Velcro zipper-like seal.
I was completely surprised by this and although I thought it was cool, I was also a little puzzled. Would the zipper-like seal maintain freshness as well as a typical zip seal?
I never did get to find out since our bag of Sensible Portions Chia and Quinoa Pita Crisps didn’t last long enough for me to test out the functionality of the seal. However, I will say the bag was incredibly easy to open and close. Snacking was easy which may or may not have been a good thing!
Did I like the Sensible Portions Chia and Quinoa Pita Crisps? Yep, totally. Would I eat them again? Yep, totally. Did the family like them? Yep, totally. If life is about moderation, I’m quite happy adding these little guys into my repertoire.
