thingsthatwedo.com - pc elk crossing ice cream

I honestly don’t know how the folks at President’s Choice do it but they are constantly coming up with new ice cream flavours and new products in their PC lines. It’s an amazing feat and I’m sure a lot of research and brain power goes into every single product that makes it on to the shelf.

Case in point: Elk Crossing Ice cream one of the many ice cream flavours in the PC’s signature Ice Cream Shop flavours lineup. I was at my local Loblaws when I came across its yellow and white packaging. That tub of PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream spoke to me. Actually, I think it was calling my name or maybe the peanut butter cups that were in the tub of PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream were calling my name. I’m not sure which but I’m sure I heard something.

Either way, that tub of ice cream came home with me and I’m glad it did.

Product Review: What ingredients are in the PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream?

If you’re a regular reader of ThingsThatWeDo.com, you’ll know I have a soft spot for peanut butter. I’m not a PB connoisseur by any means. I just happen to really like peanut butter.

Read the packaging on the tub of PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream and you’ll see that it’s essentially vanilla ice cream with chocolatey fudge and mini peanut butter cups.

So far so good.

Here’s a list of the ingredients that went into making the PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream: cream, milk, sugar, modified milk ingredients, fudge ripple (icing sugar, peanut oil, cocoa, modified milk ingredients, salt, soy lecithin), chocolatey peanut butter cups [sugar, peanut butter (peanuts, salt), coconut oil, skim milk, whole milk, cocoa, soy lecithin, natural flavour], glucose solids, soy mono- and diglycerides, cellulose gum, guar gum, polysorbate 80, carrageenan, natural flavour, caramel colour. May contain tree nuts.

I love that cream is the first ingredient followed by milk in close second. Of course, being that it’s ice cream with stuff in it, you know the list of ingredients would be longer. The word ‘peanut’ appears more than once on the list which is also a good thing given that it has peanut butter cups in it!

Perhaps what I most appreciate is PC’s focus to not use any artificial flavours or colours in their products.

Taste Test: how did the PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream taste?

What’s not to love about vanilla ice cream with little peanut butter cups and a ripple of chocolatey fudge in it? The PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream tastes exactly as it should – rich, decadent, sweet, and satisfying.  The little peanut butter cups add texture and a slight crunch to the ice cream.

Of course, being the person that I am, I just had to add an extra spoon of PB goodness to go with it. That was the absolute most perfect combination EVER. The hubby didn’t agree and opted to eat his fare share sans the PB topping.

Verdict:

School may be around the corner but there is no denying that the PC Elk Crossing Ice Cream is super yummy and delicious any time of the year. If you love peanut butter and you love ice cream, you’ll probably really enjoy this too.
