Confession: I do love cheese. Cheese doesn’t always love me but I do love cheese (well, most cheeses. I still haven’t figured out brie yet). L’Ancetre however, is one company that never ceases to amaze me.
I’ve had the pleasure of testing out quite a few of the L’Ancetre cheeses and they never disappoint. However, I have to say, the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar is one of my favourites. So much flavour, so much personality, and so much really good quality cheese.
Cheese Review: what ingredients are in the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar?
Here is a list of the ingredients that went into making the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar: organic unpasteurized milk, salt, bacterial culture, microbial enzyme, applewood smoke.
The L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar is unlike any other cheese I’ve ever tasted.
With a really cool zebra striped exterior, the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar is richly bold with a deep smoke flavour and the signature saltiness of a cheddar cheese.
As of right now, I’ve had the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar with fresh tomatoes and avocado on toast. I’ve had it plain and it also makes a pretty mean grilled cheese sandwich.
Have a closer look at the packaging and it all makes sense: the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar is double wood smoked. No wonder it’s got such a great smokiness!
Verdict:
Do I like the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar? Yes, I do. Granted, I’m not sure it’s for everyone. A pal of mine tried some of the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar but she found it almost too smoky for her liking but she loved the mildness of the L’ancetre organic half salt cheddar cheese. So, at the end of the day, it’s really about personal preferences and taste. For me?
This one is a winner!
