I mean, I love eating popcorn but I don’t always like the pre-packaged stuff. Sometimes, it’s too bland and sometimes it’s too salty or sometimes it’s just plain old stale. So when a friend recommended I try the Chicago Mix by G.H. Cretors Popped Corn, I jumped in for the taste test but I did so with some hesitation.

Well, this Chicago Mix by G.H. Cretors Popped Corn is my newfound favourite popcorn.

I love that the Chicago Mix by G.H. Cretors Popped Corn uses non-GMO corn. I think we’ve all heard about genetically modified corn at this point but we sometimes forget it can creep up when we least expect it. To know the Chicago Mix by G.H. Oh and aged cheddar cheese? Yum. Fresh butter? Are you serious?! No artificial flavours or colouring? Wow. I mean, how awesome is that?!

Food review: time for a taste test – Chicago Mix by G.H. Cretors Popped Corn

A Chicago mix, by nature, has cheddar popcorn tossed in with some caramel popcorn. Many different brands offer a Chicago mix but they don’t all do it well. What I liked about the Chicago Mix by G.H. Cretors was how savory the cheddar popcorn was and how well paired it was with their caramel popcorn.

They definitely did not hold back on the flavours. The cheddar popcorn was perfectly and intensely cheesy without being too salty and the caramel popcorn had a wonderfully rich, sweet crunch. I thoroughly enjoyed eating both flavours together and quite frankly could have polished off the entire bag in one sitting if time allowed.

Here’s a quick look at the nutrition facts. Considering each serving is 1 1/4 cups or 30 grams, the numbers are pretty decent when you factor in how much flavour each popped corn offers.

Verdict:

Am I over exaggerating about how good the Chicago Mix by G.H. Cretors is? I don’t think so. In fact, it’s probably not a good idea for me to write this review late at night because you know exactly what’s on my mind right now – popcorn covered in cheddar paired with caramel coated popcorn in a big white and blue bag with the name G.H. Cretors on it.
