Summer days are hot and humid. Sometimes, you’re out and about and you just want something cool and refreshing. I mean, the sun can be unrelenting and you just want something to cool you off but you’re not in the mood for creamy ice cream. Instead of buying something from a convenience store which is certainly convenient and costs quite a fair bit, our family will go into a grocery store to grab a box of cool treats. It’s a quick fix at a fraction of the cost.

Well, on one particularly hot and tiring day, we ended up with a box of lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars handpicked by my big kid who’s still in her citrus phase. I took a quick look at the ingredient list which was decent for a treat and away we went with it.

Let’s just say these lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars did not disappoint.

Product Review: What ingredients are in the Lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars?

thingsthatwedo.com - chunks o fruti - limeHere are the ingredients that went in to making the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars: lime juice, water, sugar, fructose, lemon pulp, guar gum, carob bean gum, carrageenan, lime oil.

Thoughts? Yep, there’s sugar and there’s fructose. I kind of figured as much since we’re buying an ice cold treat but compared to some of the other products out there, the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars are made quite well. I mean, the word ‘lime’ actually appears first on the ingredient list. That’s a rarity.  There’s also no food colouring so that’s another bonus. It certainly beats eating a ‘freezie’ (ever try reading the ingredients on those little things? EERIE!).

Product Review: How does the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars taste?

thingsthatwedo.com - chunks o fruti - limeCrack open the box and there they are. The lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars pack that we got gave us 4 bars, each at 3 oz or 98 g. My big kid was eager to devour her lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bar and she certainly enjoyed it.

No wonder: the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bar is tartly lime as lime should be but with a really nice sweet kick too. It reminded me of frozen limeade. It was refreshing and really hit the spot. The hubby, daughter, and I all really liked the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars.

Verdict:

Would I buy the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars again? Yeah.., I would. Sure, if I was organized, I could probably make my own limeade popsicles at home but that doesn’t always work especially when you’re already out and about. It’s nice to have a frozen option that isn’t creamy.

For one, the product is called Chunks O’Fruiti and the box even tells me to expect a frozen fruit bar with chunks of fruit. However, let’s be honest: none of us had any chunks of lime in our fruit bars. The reality is, I highly doubt chunks of lime pieces are even possible given that it tends to be juiced as lemons are. Having said that, the company probably shouldn’t put that little tag line on this particular flavour.

One more thing: should you decide to visit their website, you have to know it’s hideous. Not sure why but the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars are depicted as these green fruit bars which as you can see, they are definitely NOT green which is a bonus since no food colouring is included!

thingsthatwedo.com - chunks o fruti - limeThe lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars was refreshing and that’s what our family really needed. Buying one box with 4 bars was a much more cost effective way of enjoying a cold treat. Each lime fruit bar cost just a little over $1 which was much cheaper than paying $4 for a cold treat from a convenience store.

The ingredients for the lime Chunks O’ Fruti Natural Fruit Bars are basic enough and the word lime actually appears twice on the ingredient list. I mean, when was the last time you had a cherry flavoured freezie that actually had the word ‘cherry’ on its ingredient list?

I rest my case.
