A little while ago I read some ‘stuff’ about juices in cartons (you know, the ones that claim to be freshly squeezed juice only, not concentrate, blah blah blah) and every since then our family has been extra wary and cautious about buying them.

Well, we recently decided to try Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice. We’ve never seen it before at our local health food store. It was on sale, it wasn’t ‘freshly squeezed’ but was from concentrate so we decided to give it a try.

Wow, that was quite the mouthful!

Product Review: What ingredients are in Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice?

That’s it.

Need I say more?

Product Review: How does Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice taste?

thingsthatwedo.com - treehugger premium pure organic orange juiceFor this review, the entire family was involved and the reviews are mixed. Both my daughter and I liked the Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice. The hubby was a little on the fence.

Why?

Well, I guess that’s because Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice tastes exactly like the two ingredients that it’s made with. It’s light, it’s orange, and it tastes pure which I’ve now come to realize is a really good thing. The other stuff that we used to buy had this really hit-you-over-the-head intensity that definitely tasted like orange but maybe overly so. Funny, I never gave it a second thought before but when I reflect back it seems obvious that something was amiss. I mean, freshly squeezed orange juice from a juice bar never tastes the like the last cup you had and every orange you eat tastes different too. Some are sweeter, some are sour, and some are just plain old dry!

Translation: that super charged orange juice that I used to buy in a carton probably had another story to tell.

Reflection: thus why I’m okay with the way Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice tastes. It tastes honest, pure, just like orange juice but not like the kind in the carton that I used to buy. The hubby wasn’t sold on the Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice though and found it a bit on the watery side.  You can see from the image that the Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice looks just like all the other juices. We picked up the pulp free one and it we liked the flavour. I hate to sound silly but well, it tastes like orange juice without being super sweet.

Verdict:

Treehugger Premium Organic Orange JuiceWhat’s the point of today’s post? Well, it’s definitely about Treehugger Premium Organic Orange Juice. I like it. I like the fact that it’s available and it’s an alternative to the stuff that sits in the square carton in the fridge section.

This post is also about being informed and making wise consumer choices that fits your family’s food philosophy. I mean, I get that juice comes in many different forms and from many different companies and my comments about juice in a carton certainly may/not refer to yours. I just really like that we have options so thank you Treehugger for giving our family an extra option to consider!
