Run, run, run. Go, go, go. Run to the left. Run to the right. Then, run some more. Do you ever feel like your life is one big Dr. Suess book?

I do.  There’s so much to do and so little time to do all that needs to be done. Next thing you know, Thing 1 and Thing 2 appear out of nowhere and throw everything out of order (figuratively speaking, of course).

Sometimes, you just have to slow down and realize that  no matter how fast you go, the list just keeps getting longer because there is always something that needs to be addressed.

Sometimes, you just have to breathe and take a closer look at your surroundings. What do you see?

I take a glance around my kitchen and I typically see plates, cups, cutlery, food, paper, a clock, a smudge here, a smudge there, you know, that kind of stuff. Wait, there’s some dishes in the sink too. Oh look, a recipe I could tackle minus the fact that I’m missing about half the ingredients which means I should probably hit the grocery store.

But sometimes, you see a little bit more.

Take a closer look at the photo. What do you see? Do you see my beloved yellow mug? Do you see the tea leaves stuck to the side of my beloved mug? Or, do you see an incredibly sleepy looking face? - sleepy face

That’s what I saw. Usually, it’s my big kid or hubby that notices these little surprises but this time, I did! I spend most of my time running around in circles so I often feel like I miss moments like this. Then again, it’s rare that I’ll relax with a cup of green tea and it’s those tea leaves that resulted in this sleepy face.

Perhaps it’s a sign to SLOW DOWN, to breathe, to pause, and relax. I’m incredibly grateful today is Saturday because I am so down with this work week and I’m going to follow the advice of these wise tea leaves and get some much needed Zzzzzzs.

Things to do: think outside the box and look beyond the obvious. Oh, and be sure to get some rest!
