The holiday season is busy, chaotic, and unpredictable. Oh sure, you think it’s predictable but rarely is it ever. There is always something unexpected that shows up – a sudden invitation to a dinner party, a last minute event at your child’s school that requires baked goods, fantastic teachers leaving for maternity leave, you name it, it happens. There are farewells, greetings, and who knows what.

Now, I’m not the most prolific baker but I do have a handle on some recipes now and even then, I can’t necessarily get the time to turn on the oven. That’s when these little gems come in handy.

Allow me to introduce you to these super easy chocolate covered pretzel rods generously coated with sprinkles. There were SO easy and quick to make. All you need are 3 simple ingredients: chocolate, pretzel rods, and sprinkles. pic - chocolate pretzels with sprinkles

No way!

Yes way!

I’m not even joking.

Assembly is equally easy.

First off, melt your chocolate. I used milk chocolate and I melted it over a low fire on the stove top – double boiler style. pic - chocolate pretzels with sprinkles

Dip the pretzel rods into the chocolate. Be sure to leave a portion of the pretzel dry so you’ll have something to hold on to. Tap or scrap off the excess chocolate. Otherwise, you’ll have one soggy mess that will take forever to set. I mean, it’s not a bad thing but hey, remember I’m not the biggest chocolate lover so I like to keep the chocolate to pretzel ratio within my reasonable limits. pic - chocolate pretzels with sprinkles

All that’s left now is to dip the pretzel rod into the sprinkles. It’s much easier and faster to do this if your sprinkles are in a plate. pic - chocolate pretzels with sprinkles

Place the finished pretzel rods on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and you’re done! pic - chocolate pretzels with sprinkles

I actually don’t mind these chocolate covered pretzel rods. They’re crunchy and the salt from the pretzel rods help to offset the sweetness in the chocolate and sprinkles. I made these for a school event but you can see how versatile this recipe is.

Don’t like sprinkles? Toast up some coconut or crushed almonds! Ooh, how about some crushed chocolate covered espresso beans for a more adult take on these pretzel rods? Honestly, I could go on forever with these options.

This holiday season, try something a little different and maybe just maybe, make it a little easier on yourself with a few choice changes. These pretzel rods sure did come in handy! pic - chocolate pretzels with sprinkles
