thingsthatwedo.com - LOC maria crepes belgian chocolate biscuits

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually like something with chocolate in it. Over the Christmas holidays a friend gave me this box of LOC Maria Crepes Belgian Chocolate Biscuits.

I loved the vibrant red box with its gold snowflakes but what I loved even more were the little biscuits themselves.

thingsthatwedo.com - surf sweet spooky spiders

Halloween may have come and gone but we are definitely enjoying the treats that came with the event. As a Halloween treat for my big kid, I picked up a pack of these Surf Sweets Spooky Spiders. We’ve had the Surf Sweet brand before so I knew these would be tasty and fun. The funny thing is, neither one of us is particularly fond of spiders (family and friends can attest to my dislike of these 8 legged creatures. Granted Charlotte’s Web softens my perspective a little bit but just a LITTLE bit)! – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - chapmans super lolly rocket

popsicles are still fun to eat! Check out the Chapman’s Super Lolly Rockets. It should come as no surprise that they were on sale at my local grocery store. The big kid saw the sale and her eyes lit up with glee when I offered to buy them. She’s always been a big fan of popsicles (and so was I at her age. Correction: I still am!). It may be cold outside but popsicles are yummy any time of year. In fact, I’d say they taste even better in cooler weather because they take longer to melt!

thingsthatwedo.com - santa cruz organic lemonade

Apologies in advance, the images you’ll see today aren’t the best but there’s a reason. By the time I got around to taking photos of the Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade most of it had already been devoured!

Translation: the Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade was obviously delicious especially on a hot summer day so why not spread the good news? – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - central roast dried cranberriesI love dried cranberries. I love that they’re tart and fruity and they’re not as sweet as raisins (I’m not a big fan of raisins. I don’t even particularly care for oatmeal raisin cookies). Add dried cranberries to a handful of nuts and seeds and you’ve got the perfect blend of crunch, tang, and chew.

Now, not all dried cranberries are created equal. I’ve tried some dried cranberries that are far too sweet for my liking. They might as well have been red raisins. Ugh…creepy!

Friends recommended Central Roast dried cranberries so I decided to give them a test drive. I was at work and needed an easy mid-afternoon snack.

One word: yum. – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - crosby's fancy molasses

You’re probably going to tell me it’s Crosby’s Fancy Molasses, right?

Well, you’re only partly right.

You see Crosby’s Fancy Molasses, I see a container of pure scariness. You see, I’ve always been afraid of baking with molasses. I don’t know what it is about molasses but it just plain ol’ freaks me out. Maybe it’s because molasses seems so different from everything else that I bake with. It’s not butter, I’ve seen that solid and in liquid form and I know what white sugar and brown sugar do, but molasses?

No way.

The truth is, though, my big kid happens to like baked goods that use molasses as one of the ingredients. There are all these gingerbread cookie and spice loaf recipes that I’ve been wanting to try so I finally built up the courage and picked up this box of Crosby’s Fancy Molasses. I’ll tell you about my baking adventures another day. Today’s post is all about the big M. – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - camino organic cane sugar

I’m attending a meeting at an offsite location. It’s a community meeting. It’s a busy place. It’s a big place but it’s really no different than many of the other meeting places that I’ve been to.

Time for a coffee. I’m not the only one that wants a coffee. I don’t think I need the coffee but hey, hot coffee is welcome even in warm weather.

Then I spot it.

thingsthatwedo.com - camino original milk hot chocolate - organic

I am in need of a sweet treat. The week is almost over, ALMOST, but not quite. Lucky for me, I have this can of Camino Original Milk Hot chocolate Instant Mix and it looks incredibly appealing. Big thanks to Camino for sending this along my way. My big kid was particularly excited to try out the hot chocolate mix. I may not be a big fan of chocolate but hot chocolate is a completely different ball game especially when it’s made with quality ingredients that I recognize.

Who cares if it’s Spring? If the weather doesn’t know the difference, what harm can a little hot chocolate do? – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - foods alive dominican raw cocao powder

I’m tired, I’m exhausted, and I’m convinced the Zzzs are going to win this round. My friend suggests we make hot chocolate. This is not your average hot chocolate. She wants to make hot chocolate using organic raw cocoa powder, good honey that she got from a friend’s farm, and some almond milk.

I agreed and boy, am I glad I did.

thingsthatwedo.com - barkleys naturally better mintsCopyright© 2014 ThingsThatWeDo.com. All Rights Reserved.

It’s holiday season and chances are, you’ll be eating a lot of foods and you’ll also do a lot of talking. Fresh breath is likely to be high on your list.

A while back I did a review on Vermints which I happen to really like. They have a great cinnamon kick to them and they really do energize your breath. The only thing is, not all of my friends liked the chalky texture. I personally didn’t mind the texture but it did get some mixed reviews.

Enter Barkley’s Naturally Better Mints. I found them at the same health food store as the Vermints and they were roughly the same price so I decided to pick up a pack of the cinnamon ones for a taste test.

Let’s just say the results were a little surprising. – Continue Reading
