Yep, the weather is getting cooler. I can tell because my skin is close to screaming. My skin is getting dry and while I have my existing repertoire of skin care products this is a prime opportunity for me to test out a skin lotion and see what it’ll do in these dire circumstances. I mean, how bad can my skin get in the summer?

For today’s product test: Live Clean Exotic Nectar Argan Oil replenishing body lotion. I leaned towards this product mainly because the previous Live Clean product that I tested worked on my skin (it was unscented). The Live Clean Exotic Nectar Argan Oil replenishing body lotion also happened to be on sale and I had heard from others that argan oil is supposed to be really good. I’m not much for scented products so it’ll be interesting to see how this fares in our home.

We humans are such creatures of habit. We tend to stick with what we know even if it may not be in our best interest. What am I talking about? Well, today I’m specifically referring to our body lotions. Do you know what’s in your hand and body lotion?

You see, I’ll admit it, I haven’t always been very good at reading labels and I used to stick with certain brands of hand lotions and body lotions because I knew my skin didn’t react to them. I used to think that my fussy skin meant I had to go with what my body didn’t react to.

Then, I started doing a little bit of digging around and got a bit more adventurous in trying out different creams and lotions. I tested out the Live Clean sensitive skin fragrance free lotion back on January 28, 2012 and I loved it. My skin loved it and I felt great. I finally realized, I didn’t have to settle for just any old cream for fear that my skin would react to it. I just have to play it smart.

Perfect example: EarthSafe hand and body lotion. I went to my local health food store and told the staff person my life story and this is what they recommended to me. I picked up the EarthSafe hand and body lotion in Clean Air which is their unscented lotion. I figured, the less, the better especially if I’m moving up and onwards in my search for a better body lotion. It has a good price point (under $10 when I picked it up) and you get 350mL of it. So, the only thing left to do now is try it.

I’m sending out a distress call to the world of skin cream because I think my face is going to fall off. I’m sick and tired of facial moisturizers that are heavily loaded with chemicals I can’t pronounce, that I know aren’t okay for my body, and yet I feel forced to use them because my ghastly skin doesn’t react to them. I need a superhero facial moisturizer that will save me from the toxic world of face creams before I turn radioactive green. Okay, so maybe I’m being a bit melodramatic and maybe my face won’t fall off right this minute but I’m convinced it will someday unless I get some serious intervention.

Well, if you’re going to make a difference in your own life, you can’t just wait for miracles to happen so I took action and hiked myself over to the local health food store. Now, you see, I’m not rich. Many of us aren’t so I want something for my face that is chemically safe and healthy for my skin without putting a permanent dent in my retirement savings plan.

I came across a sale on a variety if Sukin products. Sukin? What’s Sukin? Do you know Sukin? No, I don’t know Sukin. What’s Sukin? I had no clue so I went over and chatted with the knowledgeable staff.

As it turns out, Sukin is an Australian company and the line is clean yet affordable. The price point was good so I purchased a bottle of Sukin Facial Moisturiser. The Sukin Facial Moisturiser was a good size bottle: 125mL for $8.99. I can’t even get that at my local generic pharmacy for skin cream so it seemed like a great buy. Will this be the Skin cream super hero that I’ve been looking for?

My daughter and I started ThingsThatWeDo.com as a way to share our thoughts and opinions on the basic things we do in our family. We do product reviews, post recipes (whenever I have the guts to share), and talk about events or ideas that we get. This is an update post with special thanks to Erin for sending me an email regarding the Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion.

I had originally posted this product review back in January 28, 2012 which would make it just over a year ago. Well, I have to tell you all, as I told Erin, that I must have been sleeping or nearly asleep when I first did this product review. Somewhere along the way, I completely neglected to include the list of ingredients for the Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion. Erin was kind enough to send me an email inquiring about the ingredient list and so all of us benefit because I’m now updating the post.

For those of you interested in knowing, here are the ingredients used in the Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion: aqua (purified water) with certified organic botanicals: camellia sinensis extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, glycerin, glyceryl stearate, cocoglycerides, dicaprylyl ether, vegetable oil, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, hydrogenated vegetable oil, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, sodium stearayl glutamate, xanthan gum, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A palmitate), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E acetate), phenxyethanol, sodium benzoate. I’ve also included a photo image of the ingredient list. It’s not great because of the shape of the bottle but hopefully, you can see most of the words. Sorry, photography is just not my forte!

My thoughts on the list of ingredients? I don’t know what most of all this stuff means but I’m glad that the Live Clean company made the product 98% plant ingredients and ecofriendly. It’s phthalate free, paraben free, and is made for sensitive skin. The Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion is also petroleum free, mineral oil free, and is purely vegan. Probably the only question mark in my head is the use of sodium benzoate which some might find contentious.

So, now you all know the full scoop and again, special thanks to Erin for the email and for sending a shout out our way. If you’d like to drop me a line, feel free to do so by making a comment below (sorry, you’ll have to register to the site first, it’s a pain I know, but it removes all the fakers out there) or you can simply send me an email using our website name: thingsthatwedo.com and then add the @gmail.com to it.

Take care and come back often to see our daily posts!

Did you go out Boxing Day shopping? While I may write for a product review site, the last thing I wanted to do was go out on Boxing Day. I just don’t have it in me to do elbow battles with others all in the name of a good deal. One thing I’ve learned along the way is that true deals don’t necessarily happen on Boxing Day or Boxing Week. Keep my eyes open and I may score a deal when I least expect it (you should ask me about the time I picked up a bunch of $8 jackets. That was awesome!).

In any case, let’s get back to the roots of ThingsThatWeDo.com. If you’ve been following along with us, you’ll know that I recently received a BzzAgent kit containing a variety of Burt’s Bees products that I’ve never tried before. I did an initial post about the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser with Clary Sage. At that time, I’d only had the kit for about 2 days and could really only give a basic review of how I thought things were going at that time. Well, today’s post is an update review. After all, just because something works in the beginning doesn’t mean it’ll continue to be fabulous. So, question is, how’s the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser with Clary Sage doing now?

It’s been a long time since I’ve reviewed any skin care products which made realize that I’m due for a review in this category. As luck would have it, there was a sale at my local health food store on the Kiss My Face Eyewitness Eye Repair Creme.

I’m not sure how much it usually sells for but during the sale, the Kiss My Face Eyewitness Eye Repair Creme was selling for $12.99. To me, that’s a pretty good deal for an eye cream. Besides, I’ve used other Kiss My Face products before and I haven’t reacted to them so I’m thinking this might be a safe one to test out. Let’s see what happens, shall we?

Are you surprised that I’m a Bzz Agent? Well, you shouldn’t be. If you regularly follow ThingsThatWeDo.com, you know I’m a big fan of reviewing family related ‘stuff’. Truth be told, I was a Bzz Agent well before I started this product review site because I recognized the power of being an informed consumer.

It’s been a long time since I received anything from Bzz Agent to review. Recently, I received a Burt’s Bees package and inside, there were 2 products for me to test out. Let me introduce you to 1 of those 2 products. Have you seen the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser with Clary Sage? Well, I certainly haven’t. All this time, I was convinced Burt’s Bees only made lip balm. What’s up with this Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser with Clary Sage? Let’s find out together, shall we?

Have you ever tried reading the ingredients listed on your bottle of facial lotion? Now, if you follow ThingsThatWeDo.com, you know I like to read labels. I may not always know what things mean but at least I can do a quick comparison amongst products. I look for ingredients that I can pronounce and the shorter, more natural the list, the better.

Well, I’ve been trying to find a good facial lotion that will protect my combination sensitive skin while having a list of ingredients that won’t petrify me. A while back, I was at my local health food store and was recommended to try the Weleda almond soothing facial lotion. According to the knowledgeable staff there, the Weleda almond soothing facial lotion works well on sensitive skin and has basic ingredients. Let’s see how well this Weleda almond soothing facial lotion holds up!

As parents, we’re always worrying about our children. That’s the job of the parent: to worry and fret and wonder and ponder and find the best solution we can come up with at any given time. Along the way, we nurture and support our kids to be independent thinkers with confidence and self-esteem, to rise to the challenges that life will throw at them. Most days though, for us parents, we need to find immediate solutions that impact our kids.

My kid has mild eczema and I don’t know about you, but the idea of resorting to hydrocortisone is not big on my list when her eczema flares up. So, I’m always looking for alternatives.

A while back, I came across Spectro kids E-Care Intense Moisturizing Cream that is designed to relieve itching and reduce redness from dry skin. Even better, this Spectro kids E-Care Intense Moisturizing Cream received the Seal of Acceptance from the Eczema Society of Canada so I’m hoping that this product will give me another option for those days when my kid needs it. Now, it’s been sitting on my shelf for a while now because it’s summer time and my kid hasn’t really had any eczema flare ups. Recently though, I did get the chance to test out the Spectro kids E-Care Intense Moisturizing Cream. See what happened.

A long time ago, we did a product review on the Kiss My Face olive and honey soap. Recently, we noticed that Kiss My Face changed its product design and decided to pick up a different soap to test out. For today’s product review, we’re going to look at the Kiss My Face Olive and Aloe soap. Would it hold up to our expectations of the Kiss My Face brand?
