It’s back to work and it’s back to a more typical review here on ThingsThatWeDo.com. Remember, I’m going to try and keep that right brain of mine nice and calm because quite frankly, I’ve had enough of it.

So, let’s talk about this PC Caramelized Vidalia Onion hummus that I recently picked up. I haven’t done a review on any dips or spreads lately so I figured this would be a good one to test out. Lately Loblaws has come out with a variety of different dips and spreads but I really haven’t had much time to try them out until now.

A while back I did a review on the Wan Ja Shan Organic Tamari which was a pretty good substitute for the typical soya sauce. Made with only 3 basic ingredients, In quite liked the Wan Ja Shan Organic Tamari. At that time, I said I’d do a little browsing at my local grocery store just to see how other soy type sauces stack up. Do they use only 3 ingredients?

I don’t know how Loblaws does it but I have to give them credit for coming up with new products. A recent trip to my local Loblaws revealed a bunch of new dips and spreads including this PC Ginger and Wasabi hummus. I can safely say this is the first hummus dip I’ve ever seen with ginger and wasabi in it. Talk about fusion! I’m intrigued, I’m curious, and I want to know if the PC Ginger and Wasabi hummus is a total winner or a complete flop.

Really, ginger and wasabi with chickpeas? This hummus dip is so new, I visited their website and it’s not even on the site yet!

I’m browsing the grocery aisles and I’m thinking ahead. It won’t be long before the weather gets cooler and all the varieties of fresh fruit just won’t be as abundant as I’d like. It’s times like these that I often turn to frozen fruit (not canned – yuck). Buy a giant bag and you’ve got fruit for a variety of uses. Eat it cold like a frozen pop, crush it with my Yonanas machine, or toss it into some muffins (as if I bake – but I could!).

Enter President’s Choice frozen sliced peaches. After falling in love with their frozen mango chunks, I decided I’d give this bag of President’s Choice frozen sliced peaches a try. Why? Well, locally peaches are available and we had this one phenomenally amazing basket. The peaches were juicy, sweet, and we polished them off in a day. Next basket I bought was a total disaster. I don’t know if you’ve ever had a peach taste like this before but it was literally like chomping on a potato. There was no juice and the peach flesh was just so starchy. I ate them but it wasn’t fun.
Fast forward and I’ve decided to look into the President’s Choice frozen sliced peaches because they might just become a good fall back fruit for those cooler months. Let’s see.

Lately, I’ve been on this mango kick. I’ve had everything but the fresh mango (can’t be bothered to deal with the mango peel and the utter fear that I’ll pick one that isn’t ripe enough to consume which will lead to ultimate heart break).

Determined to seek mango perfection, I came across this unassuming bag of President’s Choice Mango chunks. Frozen mango chunks with the peel removed and in bite size pieces, this may just be the answer I’ve been seeking. Mangoes are naturally sweet (unless you pick one that isn’t ripe which would be my luck) so in theory, President’s Choice Mango chunks should be an easy win.

A little while ago, I reviewed the PC Blue Menu mango peach smoothie bars which I thought were a little on the gross side (my own personal feeling of course. Others may find them absolutely delectable). Then, boom! Browsing through the frozen aisle at my local Loblaws recently my eyes came across this box – PC Loads of Mango fruit bars. Now, I don’t recall seeing them before but I’m determined to give them a try because I’m sure they’re going to taste better than those PC Blue Menu mango peach smoothie bars. Well…at least that’s what I’m hoping. Summer may be fading but the weather is still warm so I think it’s perfectly justified to test out these PC Loads of Mango fruit bars.

It’s August and it’s still summer which means there’s still time to review ice cold treats like PC blue menu mango peach smoothie bars. I find mangos yummy and you can’t go wrong with peaches so technically speaking these PC blue menu mango peach smoothie bars should be a winner. However, what I’ve come to learn from doing ThingsThatWeDo.com is that there is no such thing as a sure winner. There have been big duds and big surprises so I’ve learned to expect the unexpected (so cliché…).

Guess what? PC has another new Greek yogurt. Allow me to introduce you to PC Fruit on the Bottom Lemon Greek yogurt. My kid actually spotted it on a recent trip to our local Loblaws. She’s a big fan of lemons so when she saw the word lemon, she was tempted to try the PC Fruit on the Bottom Lemon Greek yogurt even though she’s not even a big fan of Greek yogurt! I read the ingredients and figured it was well worth a try so let’s just see how this new PC yogurt tastes. Who knows, my kid might just get a kick out of this new PC Fruit on the Bottom Lemon Greek yogurt!

I love almonds, always have, always will. My family, however, has yet to try any almond butters because I couldn’t decide on a brand or type to try. You see, almond butters confuse me. Some say ‘raw’, others say ‘natural’, others are ‘roasted’ and they all look smooth which scares me since I’ve always loved almonds for their crunch. So, when I came across the PC Blue Menu Just Almonds Crunchy Almond Butter I knew this would be the one to try.

Maybe it’s just me but I think the PC Blue Menu Just Almonds Crunchy Almond Butter is the first almond butter I’ve come across that is actually crunchy and has chunks of almonds in it. That was all I needed to know before I grabbed it off the shelf for a product review for ThingsThatWeDo.com.

It’s been a while since I did a review on a dip or spread so I decided to do it on the PC Greek yogurt roasted red pepper dip. PC constantly has these new dips and spreads that are coming out. Every time I blink there seems to be a new one on the shelf. I like roasted red pepper and Greek yogurt is pretty yummy so in theory the two merged together should work just fabulously. Yeah….about that.
