There’s ice cream and then there’s smart ice cream. I was at my local Loblaws recently and came across these little mini Haagen Daz ice cream containers designed to be single portions on the go. Then, my eyes saw the Haagen Daz Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream and I was sold. Given that they were also on sale at 3 for $4.98, I decided I needed to see what these little minis were all about. I mean, I can’t resist the call of the PB! Besides, summer is technically around the corner so I should really be testing out some ice cream, right?

I think the weather may be changing. I think it might just be getting warmer but I’m afraid of speaking too soon. Now, I don’t like hot, humid, and muggy weather, but I would certainly appreciate some nicer, warmer days just for a change of scenery, please and thank you.

A few posts ago, we reviewed the Natural Choice Strawberry Fruit Bars and at that time, I had promised that I would eventually get around to testing the other box of Natural Choice fruit bars that we had gotten. So, here it is: round 2 of our Natural Choice product testing. This time, we’re reviewing the Natural Choice Coconut Fruit bars. I’m biased towards coconut because I love the way it tastes so I’ve got high hopes for these bars. I dream of a decadently rich and coconut explosion that will make me dream of blue skies and white fluffy clouds. Okay, maybe that’s a bit much to ask for in a frozen box of treats but hey, fingers crossed, maybe just maybe….

It may be Spring but it doesn’t feel like Spring. If the weather gets any colder, I’m going to buy snowpants for myself. Okay, so I may be exaggerating just a tad but seriously, we’ve only had a few Spring like days.

It was on one of those rare Spring days that my daughter and I decided to pick up a box of Natural Choice Strawberry fruit bars. There were a variety of flavours and my kid picked strawberry. I decided to pick up a box of coconut bars for myself which I promise to review at a later date. While warmer weather seems far away, I’m going to think positively and forecast ahead. I’m going to imagine that it’s toasty warm as we test out these Natural Choice Strawberry fruit bars for ThingsThatWeDo.com.

A few weeks ago, I reviewed the Liberte Mediterranee mocha yogurt which tasted great but did have a higher fat 7.5% m.f. content so it might not fit into everyone’s daily food fiesta. So, I went looking for a similar mocha flavoured yogurt that would have a lower fat content and guess what I found? Turns out, Liberte makes a lighter version in a café latte flavour. It’s 85% certified organic yogurt and has 0% fat. I can’t help but wonder how this Liberte 85% Certified Organic Café Latte Yogourt will taste. Will I miss the higher fat content? Will it taste odd because it’s 0% fat? I have no clue!

I am perfectly aware that it’s winter time and I’m perfectly aware that it’s cold outside and yet, when I walked down the grocery aisle and saw this box of Haagen Dazs caramel almond crunch ice cream bars on sale, I decided it was due time for an ice cold product review.

Why, you ask? Well, I think it’s safe to say for those of you who regularly follow ThingsThatWeDo.com, you may have realized that I am just a little bit unconventional. So, why not do a product review on the Haagen Dazs caramel almond crunch ice cream bars? If anything else, you’ll now have the review well before summer hits and besides, it’s not like I ate them outdoors!

I am lamenting the near tail end of summer with one last (or second last) ice cream review of the season. While I’m sure this won’t be the last ice cream review we do here at ThingsThatWeDo.com, it certainly might be one of the last ones before the arrival of Fall. I decided to do an ice cream review on the Haagen Daz vanilla bean ice cream for a variety of reasons.

Many think Haagen Daz ice cream comes from an exotic faraway place. Ah, but do not let this fancy dancy name fool you. Any guesses on where Haagen Daz originates from?

My other reason for choosing to review the Haagen Daz vanilla bean ice cream is of course, its ingredient list. Made with cream, sugar, concentrated skim milk, liquid egg yolk, vanilla extract, and ground vanilla beans, this Haagen Daz vanilla bean ice cream is a far cry from some of the more processed and frozen disasters out there posing as ice cream. I’m not even going to foul this post by mentioning them. Needless to say, if you go exploring our Ice Cream review section, you’ll find some of the culprits there.

Well, summer is still going strong and with that, so are my reviews for summer related products. Thus, while there’s still time, I thought I’d take a quick moment to review PC’s latest invention, the PC blue menu field berry yogurt smoothie bar. This PC blue menu field berry yogurt smoothie bar claims to be low fat with only 90 calories per bar and ‘offers the taste of real yogurt’ (as the box claims, see the image in this post). I’m always a little wary of words like ‘offers’ since it really doesn’t hold much weight in terms of what I’m actually getting. So, let’s just see if these PC blue menu field berry yogurt smoothie bar get a pass or fail, shall we?

If you’ve been following ThingsThatWeDo.com, you’ll know that I was thoroughly peeved and ticked that Laura Secord ice cream had messed with perfection. Since the turn of time, Laura Secord had been making the ultimate ice cream packaged under the name of French Crisp, decadent sweet cold goodness with toffee bits, almond pieces, and little mini chocolate chips. Then, they did some sort of funk attack to French Crisp and we royally complained about it here at ThingsThatWeDo.com. That was back in November 2011 but recently, we had heard word through various sources including loyal reader Angie, who said the real French Crisp was coming back. It’s been 9 months and has a difference been found?

Just recently Angie reported back that she in fact had tasted the real French Crisp at her local Laura Secord ice cream shop and I was determined to see if I could get my hands on the real thing.

I have finally gotten around to doing this review on the PC Blue Menu Key Lime Sherbet. It came as a direct request from a colleague of mine who is absolutely addicted to it and demanded that I test it out. I actually think she threatened to attack me with post it notes if I didn’t. Since the days are still hot and my freezer is looking bare, I decided to do this product review because quite honestly, threat of sticky note ambush is always looming at work until I do this taste test.

Okay, it’s hot out. We all know that and yes, I’m leading up to the fact that I have yet another product review on ice cream. But hey, if I didn’t review ice cream and cold desserts in the summer time, when would I? For this product review, I decided to try out these new ice cream bars by President’s Choice Loblaws. Have you seen these PC loads of peanut butter chocolate ice cream bars yet? Well, they looked promising. I found them on sale at $4.99 for 6 bars which is a pretty good deal since a single ice cream bar at your local convenience store costs you an arm, leg, and kidney. This PC loads of peanut butter chocolate ice cream bar has peanut butter, chocolate, a crunchy looking coating, and it’s cold. Sounds promising, right?
