thingsthatwedo.com - bolthouse-farms-berry-boost-smoothieSometimes, I wander the aisles in the grocery store. I have a few minutes to spare and I pick up different products to gander at their choice of ingredients. I read a few labels, I think, and I move on.

On this particular day, I picked up the bottle of Bolthouse Farms 100% Fruit juice smoothie. There are a variety of flavours. The one you see pictured here is their Berry Boost smoothie.

I take a good look at their bottle, the packaging, the words and then I start thinking. For starters, I never make smoothies at home. I just don’t. I’d rather eat the whole fruit. Occasionally, the family might pick up a smoothie while we’re out and about but really, they’re not part of our everyday repertoire.

Oh, I should apologize in advance: I took these photos while I was in the store. They’re not the best quality, wobbly handling and all. What can I say? - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - crastan-orzo-pupo

Of all the products I’ve reviewed for ThingsThatWeDo.com, the Crastan Orzo Pupo is one of the most surprising finds I’ve come across.

There I was, at my local little grocery store browsing the aisles when I spot this container of Crastan Orzo Pupo. Intrigued, I picked it up and read the label. Ingredients: instant BARLEY?

No way, a barley drink? That’s different and right up my alley. You see, coffees and teas are quite alright (rooibos tea is quite yummy by the way) but I always look for other warm drinks to enjoy when the weather gets cooler. Hot apple cider is delicious but far too sweet and I wanted to branch out.

A warm barley beverage?  Now that’s interesting. - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - blue monkey coconut water

The hubby is quite the crafty one when it comes to the kitchen. He’s a pretty mean cook which is fantastic since we both can bounce food ideas off one another. Occasionally, he brings home novelty items that he wants to try out.

Most recently: this can of Blue Monkey Coconut Water. It was on sale at the grocery store so he decided to buy one to test it out.

Now, I have to be honest, I was a little apprehensive about it. I wasn’t exactly happy with the last coconut water I tested a while back. Granted, it was from a different company but still….

thingsthatwedo.com - camino fair trade medium roast coffee

I would like to say that I’m a coffee connoisseur but I’m not. I drink coffee and my choices are either based on my level laziness or on availability of the coffee. Of course, cost is a factor too (it has to be a really good cup of coffee before I spend obnoxious amount of money on it). I often bring coffee to work in a travel mug because I can’t stand to wait in line at the coffee shop. It feels like a complete waste of time. On the days that I do buy coffee, I’ll opt for whatever is nearby and cost effective.

A long while back, I received this bag of medium roast coffee from the good folks at Camino. There is so much I love about this coffee. I love that it’s fair trade and it’s organic. It’s also incredibly easy to drink. I mean, what more could you want in coffee? - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - zico premium coconut water with natural chocolate flavour

Regular readers will know I love almost all things coconut so how could I resist when a friend gave me a bottle of ZICO Chocolate coconut water to try? I mean, sure, I’m not a chocolate fan, but hey, it’s got coconut water in it and it’s got coconut cream (that’s what the ingredient list says and I love coconut cream). A pal of mine insisted that I try it. She loves it, her kids love it, and she MADE me try it.

Yes, I tried ZICO Chocolate coconut water. About that…. - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - santa cruz organic lemonade

Apologies in advance, the images you’ll see today aren’t the best but there’s a reason. By the time I got around to taking photos of the Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade most of it had already been devoured!

Translation: the Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade was obviously delicious especially on a hot summer day so why not spread the good news? - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - kiju lemonade frozen juice box

The sun is shining. The air is warm and there’s just a slight breeze in the air. The birds are chirping. Yes, it’s a gentle Saturday.

I wish every summer day could be like this.

What better way to enjoy a Saturday summer day than with a frozen juice box. Cut off the top, squeeze it out, and you’ve got an instant summer hit. It costs much less than all those other frozen treats at your local convenience store and the ingredients in it are also a million times better (slight exaggeration but you get the idea).

The best part about a frozen juice box is that it also takes its time to melt. It’s also got a built in straw so you can slurp up whatever’s left in the juice box!

I mean, does it get any better than this?

Here’s to an amazing weekend. Wishing you all a very happy juice box.

thingsthatwedo.com - camino original milk hot chocolate - organic

I am in need of a sweet treat. The week is almost over, ALMOST, but not quite. Lucky for me, I have this can of Camino Original Milk Hot chocolate Instant Mix and it looks incredibly appealing. Big thanks to Camino for sending this along my way. My big kid was particularly excited to try out the hot chocolate mix. I may not be a big fan of chocolate but hot chocolate is a completely different ball game especially when it’s made with quality ingredients that I recognize.

Who cares if it’s Spring? If the weather doesn’t know the difference, what harm can a little hot chocolate do? - Continue Reading
