thingsthatwedo.com - stacys pretzel thinsI have a friend that loves to eat pretzel thins or pretzel crisps. You know, they look like pretzels that have been sliced into thin little chips. That stuff. She loves eating them and she has one preferred brand.

During a recent trip to the grocery store, I stumbled across this bag of Stacy’s Pretzel Thins. They were on sale so I decided to buy them for her as a treat. I’ve tried other Stacy’s products before and I enjoyed them so I figured this was a pretty safe gift to give.

Wrong.

thingsthatwedo.com - nature valley peanut butter granola thins

I love almost all things peanut butter because I’m a firm believer that almost everything tastes better with a dollop of PB on it. Ice cream? Definitely. Morning toast? Yep. Dinner? Totally.

I practically jumped at the opportunity to grab this box of Nature Valley Peanut Butter Granola Thins. It was on sale at my local grocery store for under $2. Look, I KNOW it says ‘peanut butter flavoured coating’ (translation: likely, not real PB) but I just couldn’t resist. I mean, granola plus PB? Come on! – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - pepperidge farm pretzel goldfish crackersIf pretzels had a middle name I bet you it would be ‘salt’ with a capital ‘S’. Hey, it’s no secret: pretzels are salty. Some are saltier than others but the two words are pretty synonymous.

Pretzels are tasty. They’re crunchy, they’re savory, and they offer an alternative to the conventional potato chip. But, they’re salty and that’s definitely something to keep an eye out for.

I took a moment to dig through the ThingsThatWeDo.com archives and came across these images of Pepperidge Farm Pretzel Goldfish Crackers and realized that I’d never posted about them. Looks like I have a lot of time to make up! – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - elco sesame rice crackers

A couple of weeks ago, I did a product review on a different brand of rice cracker and discovered a surprising ingredient in it. I then started to wonder if other brands of rice crackers would also use surprising ingredients.

A pal at work purchased this pack of Elco Sesame Rice Crackers so I decided to take a closer look to see what these rice crackers were made of. Guess what? There’s no beeswax involved. – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - christie sesame rice thinsCrunch crunch crunch. That’s the sound I occasionally want to hear when I want a snack. Sometimes, I want crunchy carrots (I love vegetables). Other times, I go for a healthy serving of almonds. Then, there are times I think about rice crackers. Remember, I like dips and rice crackers go really well with dips.

So, when I look at this box of Christie Sesame Rice Thins I wonder how they’ll taste. They were on sale so I picked them up. I know what rice crackers taste like. Who doesn’t? So…why not…except, does your brand of rice crackers include this ingredient? – Continue Reading

If you like crackers and you’ve been munching away on them then you may want to compare the ingredients on your favourite box with this box of PC Organics Vegetable Stone Wheat Crackers.

There’s a particular brand of veggie crackers that my big kid tried a while back. She liked it but I wasn’t a big fan of it. I took a gander at the ingredient list on THAT box of veggie crackers and I was completely grossed out.

Fast forward to this box of PC Organics Vegetable Stone Wheat Crackers and I was intrigued enough to pick it up for a taste test. – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - PC waffle cones with PC chocolate ice cream

No, I haven’t done it yet this year but I’m sensing that it’s about to happen sometime soon. The weather is getting warmer which means in the very near future, my freezer will have a few cartons of ice cream just screaming to be enjoyed.

Come on, you have to admit that photo of ice cream wedged inside a waffle cone sure does look enticing, doesn’t it? – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - twistos parmesan and oregano crispsBack in 2012, I tested out a bag of Twistos. It was a bag of Twistos Parmesan and Oregano Baked Snack Bites. They were okay and you can read the full review here but it’s been a long time since I’ve placed my hands on another bag of Twistos.

That is, until my friend picked up this bag of Twistos Parmesan and Oregano Crisps. It was the same flavour that I had tried a few years ago but these were crispy snack crackers. Would I like these more? Would I like these less?

Well, there was only one way to find out and I didn’t have to pay for them so I was quite game to do a spontaneous taste test.

I browse, I look, I see, I ponder.

That’s what I sometimes do at the grocery store. I mean, it’s like a food library in there! Find the cover appealing? Pick it up and have a good look. Pick up a box, read the label, discover what’s inside. If I had the time, I could probably be in a grocery store for hours.

On this particular occasion, I zoned in on a bottle of Club House Pure Vanilla Extract. I always wonder about words like ‘pure’ and ‘natural’ so I wanted to take a closer look. I mean, how pure is it really? There’s really only one way to find out.

Guess what I found? – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - late july organic classic saltine crackersCopyright© 2015 ThingsThatWeDo.com. All Rights Reserved.

Crackers are a basic part of my carb life. I mean, crackers go well with cheese, jam, spreads, and nut butters. They make for a quick snack and while most are empty, crackers can certainly be paired with other foods to make the snack more substantial.

Crackers make other foods shine.

Yes, that’s it.

Having said that, not all crackers are created equal. This I can say because I read ingredient labels and I know some brands have some pretty scary ingredients in them. I decided to try out the Late July Organic Classic Saltine Crackers because they were recently on sale at my local health food store. I had cheese at home just waiting for the perfect partner. Any guesses on how the Late July Organic Classic Saltine Crackers fared? – Continue Reading
