Well that was a long winded title.

It is true though, my kid likes Nature’s Path Organic Flax Plus Pumpkin Flax Granola. Granola tends to be a hit or miss in our home. We either love it or we hate it mainly because some blends are much too sweet or too artificial tasting.

This Nature’s Path Organic Flax Plus Pumpkin Flax Granola seems to be the current fave in our home. It’s crunchy, toasty, and has just the right amount of sweetness. Insert pumpkin and flax seeds and we’re happy campers!

It’s a new year, why not try something new? In my case, I’m trying chia seeds. I’ve never had them before EVER. I’d heard about chia seeds and their health benefits but never thought to do a taste test. Enter 2015 and I find a sale on Natural Factors Organic Chia Factors at my local health food store. I purchased 2 jars for the price of 1 and it was well under $20.I rarely see that kind of sale so here I am, proud owner of Natural Factors Organic Chia Factors.

I have no idea how long it’s going to take me to finish both jars of Natural Factors Organic Chia Factors but something tells me it’s going to last me a VERY LONG TIME. – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - enjoy life not nuts seed and fruit mixCopyright© 2014 ThingsThatWeDo.com. All Rights Reserved.

The great folks at Enjoy Life have come out with yet another new product. I don’t know who the masterminds are at Enjoy Life but it seems like they’re constantly pumping out new products which I commend. As a conscientious consumer, the very fact that Enjoy Life exists means better alternatives and options for families like mine.

Check out their latest product: Enjoy Life Not Nuts Seed and Fruit. There are a number of different mixes. For today’s review, I tested out the Enjoy Life Not Nuts Seed and Fruit Beach Bash Mix. It’s quite the tongue twister but the goodness inside the bag speaks for itself.

If you’re looking for something new to put in your kid’s snack bag, this might just be the one for you. – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - purest baking powderCopyright© 2014 ThingsThatWeDo.com. All Rights Reserved.

Baking is not my forte but I’m pretty good at making my own pancakes. I used to rely on a recipe from a cookbook but I’ve now graduated to the big leagues and I can manage to make pancakes from scratch AND without a physical recipe. I figured out the proportions and the ingredients that work for my family and I’m even able to jazz them up when I want to.

Of course, I’m also humble enough to realize that I need decent ingredients to work with. After all, I can’t make pancakes out of nothing. I use baking powder in my pancakes and I have an existing brand that I prefer. Well, that went out the window when I went to my local health food store and it wasn’t available!

End result: I end up with a bag of Purest Baking Powder. I’ve never ever seen Purest Baking Powder before but the staff told me it was a good product, I read the ingredients and decided to take it home.

Purest Baking Powder anyone?

thingsthatwedo.com - crofters organic mango premium spreadCopyright© 2014 ThingsThatWeDo.com. All Rights Reserved.

I feel like I haven’t reviewed a jam in a while, I mean, really review. Lately, I’ve noticed a lot of bad eggs on the supermarket shelves but I haven’t come across a good one that I’d at least be willing to try.

Ah, that’s where Crofter’s Organic Mango Premium Spread comes in. I’m a big fan of mangoes and so when I saw a mango spread by a company I recognize, I just couldn’t resist doing this taste test. The best part was, the Crofter’s Organic Mango Premium Spread was on sale for less than $4! – Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com pic - wafflesCopyright© 2014 ThingsThatWeDo.com. All Rights Reserved.

and I stand by that statement.

Some days, you need a coffee. Some days you need a nap. Some days you need a good cry or a hug and some days, you just need a waffle.

Waffles are easy and they’re so inviting. Waffles accept whatever toppings you want on them and they never complain.

thingsthatwedo.com pic - wafflesI’m not extravagant by any means. I’m quite happy to have my waffle with some fresh whipped cream and just a touch of chocolate goo on the side (none of that Cool Whip stuff. That stuff seriously creeps me out). The other day, my big kid decided to pair her waffle with some orange Jello which isn’t a staple in our home by any means. We were out for brunch and she was happy as a lark when she ate it. The hubby drenches his waffle with some whip cream and syrup.

Maybe waffles like pancakes represent more than just a tasty treat. When I think of waffles, I think of family. I think of relaxing moments that aren’t racing at 100 miles an hour. Waffles also make me think of fresh whipped cream and I LOVE WHIPPED CREAM (can you tell?).

thingsthatwedo.com pic - wafflesI think that’s why I like to do food reviews so much on ThingsThatWeDo.com. Food isn’t just food. It’s a conduit for memories and for moments shared with loved ones. Make a pact with yourself: no matter how busy you are, make time to celebrate what you have and do it in style with a big plate of whatever makes you happy!

Hm…I’m thinking watermelon. 🙂

thingsthatwedo.com - stonemill sourdough multigrain breadCopyright© 2014 ThingsThatWeDo.com. All Rights Reserved.

Truth be told, I’m a bit of a bread snob. I mean, I’ll eat almost any bread that comes my way but I’ve also steered clear of certain brands of bread that have ingredients that I don’t need in my body. Remember the azodicarbonamide aka yoga mat fiasco? Yep, that stopped me from eating a number of breads and I have a hard time going back to those brands. That’s just the tip of the iceberg but you get what I mean.

So, it should be no surprise to you that I was really excited to try a new line of breads from Stonemill Bakehouse. I was recently asked to review their line of breads with vitamin D.

Say what? Did I just hear that correctly?

Yes I did and that’s exactly why I agreed to do this review because Stonemill is the first company in English Canada to introduce vitamin D into their breads.

How cool is that? – Continue Reading

Summer Fresh White Cheddar and Parmesan Dip – you know it’s going to be a decadent dip. I knew that when I picked it up from the grocery store. I was looking for a more decadent dip to jazz up my morning breakfast routine. I’ve had my fair share of hummus in the past little while and I wanted something a little different. I like cheese so when I saw the Summer Fresh White Cheddar and Parmesan Dip I figured it was worth a try (that and the fact that it was on sale).

You see this jar of peanut butter. You see the name. It says Family’s Best. Question: do you really think it’s best?

The hubby picked it up at a local health food store mainly because the selection was limited and he didn’t want a flavoured PB.

He comes home with Family’s Best organic creamy peanut butter and of course, my big kid and I read the ingredient list. Guess what we found?

Yogurt, an instant quick and easy breakfast, snack, or dessert what’s not to love about it? Lately, it seems as if the marketplace has exploded with a million different types of yogurt. It’s been a while since I last tested a yogurt so I thought I’d give the Liberte Certified Organic 2.5 Percent Plain Yogurt a try. I’ve reviewed some of their other products before in the past with mixed feelings. Some I liked, some not so much. Which way will the Liberte Certified Organic 2.5 Percent Plain Yogurt fall? Let’s find out.
