thingsthatwedo.com - a-pentatonix-christmas-cd

December 25th may be right around the corner but I am having a Pentatonix Christmas right now.

As in, RIGHT NOW and I have no intent of slowing down.

Yes, Pentatonix has been blaring in our home every single day for the past 3 weeks. I’ve been having a jolly good Pentatonix Christmas and I’m ECSTATIC. There’s Christmas music and then there are the sweet harmonies and melodies made by Pentatonix who continue to make acapella magic. If you haven’t picked up your copy of A Pentatonix Christmas, you should. - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - inside out forget this book

Disney Pixar sure can hit some home runs. Their recent movie, Inside Out, was a favourite with my daughter. She loved that movie and we talked about it incessantly. Of course, that later lead to this: buying the ‘Inside Out Forget This!’ book.

I won’t go into full details about this book because that would ruin everything. The point of today’s post: we need more books like this!

Why?

thingsthatwedo.com - owen and mzee book

Sometimes, books just touch you and humble you and remind you of what’s really important in life.

Owen and Mzee, two animals that under normal circumstances would likely have never become friends but yet, they did. Owen, a baby hippo without parents, and Mzee, a 130 year old giant tortoise come together in a time of struggle and strife. I mean, honestly, would you ever think the two would have become pals? - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - merriam webster garfield dictionaryIt’s amazing what you can find when you least expect it. There I was at a book fair and I spot this: a GARFIELD dictionary!

Are you kidding me?!!??

I never even knew such a thing existed but this is by far the coolest dictionary I’ve ever seen. I grew up loving Garfield so this is an incredibly fascinating blast from my past. I mean, LOOK at it! It even has GARFIELD COMICS in it! - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - discovery kids 1000 awesomely gross disgusting facts bookMy child, Jenny, is now 9 years old. She’s always been an avid reader and our home is full of books. Once upon a time, she used to love Barney and Dora and Thomas the Tank Engine. She loved Clifford, Little Critter, and Pinkalicious. She loved Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew and she loved Geronimo Stilton. In recent years, her taste in books has certainly diversified. Big Nate, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and quiz books have become favourites.

Of course, let’s not forget gross books like this Discovery Kids 1000 Awesomely Gross and Disgusting Facts Book.

Oh yeah…this one was a home run from the minute she saw the front cover. - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com pic - kids 2015

If you’re a regular reader of ThingsThatWeDo.com, you’ll know that I’m a huge Pentatonix fan. If you haven’t heard of them before, then you have some serious musical homework to do.

Pentatonix is the most brilliant acapella group on this planet (okay, I may be biased). A strong group of 5 dazzling minds, Avi, Kirstie, Kevin, Mitch, and Scott prove that instruments aren’t necessary to make beautiful music. They’re smart, they arrange their own music, they make their own music, they’re dedicated and hard working, and they sing LIVE.

Pentatonix is magic personified. I can’t quite put it all into words and I won’t bore you all with the history of the group. Do a quick internet search and you’ll learn more than you can imagine about them. From the Sing Off competition to 2015, Pentatonix continues to amaze me.

All I can say is Pentatonix is sheer perfection and they’ve just released a new video titled, “Evolution of Michael Jackson”. You’ve never seen a compilation of Michael Jackson’s work quite like this before.

Things to do: watch it! It was released just yesterday and it already has over 500,000 views.

Pentatonix “Evolution of Michael Jackson”

Yep, I am a fan.

thingsthatwedo.com - marvis toothpaste

Amidst the sea of ragged facial tissues, guess what showed up at our doorstep?

Marvis toothpaste from nailpolishcanada.com.

Never heard of Marvis toothpaste? Well, neither did I until I was contacted by the lovely folks at nailpolishcanada.com. I did a little internet digging and it turns out that Marvis toothpaste is based in Italy and made using a traditional processing method with an end result that’s smooth and rich. Marvis toothpaste comes in different flavours which may not seem like much since other brands have that too but it sounds as though Marvis may be in a league of its own.

I chose 2 different flavours to try: Aquatic Mint and Ginger Mint. I’ve only gotten so far as to look at the packaging and I’m intrigued. It certainly doesn’t look like your average drug store brand. I plan to take a closer look and actually try out the Marvis toothpaste when I’m feeling a little better and my taste buds are back to their usual functioning selves. For now, I’m going to just stare and admire the elegant and cool packaging.

Big thanks to nailpolishcanada.com for sending these Marvis toothpastes my way. I can’t wait to try them!

Now, if you’d like to do a little research yourselves, here are 2 sites you can visit:

1. nailpolishcanada.com

2. the Marvis Mint website (p.s. I can guarantee you’ve never seen toothpaste advertising like this before).
