I don’t know if you have this issue but I am constantly looking for something different to eat at breakfast. With the morning rush and getting my family ready for work and school, I get bored of just eggs, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and the staple of breads. I know what I love. I love peanut butter, but even that has a limit (5 days straight and I’m ready to eat plain bread!).
I stumbled across this coconut delight during a recent trip to the grocery store. I call it a coconut spread but some might call it coconut butter or coconut cream. I think spread because my intention was to spread it on my morning piece of toast.
Right off the bat, I loved what I read under the ingredient list: organic coconut. That’s it!! No preservatives, additives, nothing I can’t read or spell. Organic, natural goodness. I felt like I’d hit a home run already.
Product review: What happened?
I buy it, take it home, and get to work on it after dinner because I’m desperate to try it. As soon as you crack open the lid, the scent of coconut permeates the air and I kid you not, I start salivating (thank you, Pavlov!). However, my attempt to dive straight in is thwarted because it’s rock hard and given its natural state, requires some mixing to blend all the coconut goodness together.
I read the label, dunk it in hot water, mix and mix again, and finally, I get to spread it on my toasted pita bread.
Say goodbye to peanut butter for the next few weeks and hello to Nutiva Organic Coconut Manna! While it already tastes great, rich smooth coconutty goodness, I splurge and drizzled honey on top and that sent me right over the moon. You honestly don’t need much to pack a flavourful punch. Its rich without making me feel guilty and I’m convinced I moaned and groaned through the entire thing.
Although I was annoyed at having to heat up the entire jar to blend and mix the coconut spread, I was willing to do it. Why? Because I appreciate that natural means I sometimes have to put effort into what I eat. I’d rather spend a few more minutes mixing the different components of coconut together than have my food pumped with irrelevant and harmful products just so it can be ‘easy’ for me.
Will I buy/eat this again?? If you haven’t guessed it yet, yes, yes, yes, YES!!!!!
