If you’ve been following my blog review site, you’ll know that my child loves Madagascar. My daughter and I also happen to love the Nexcare waterproof tattoo bandages (read Nexcare waterproof tattoo bandage review here ). My only complaint is that more styles need to be available for children because the only one at my local drugstore is the Hot Wheels car designs.
Well, I did some browsing at a few pharmacies and discovered that Nexcare makes a different product line of bandages called their Comfort Pals bandages but you won’t believe it: the Penguins of Madagascar are on them! Talk about hitting the jackpot for my daughter! We bought a box and here’s how they measured up.
Product review: What happened?
Like the Nexcare waterproof tattoo bandages, you also get 2 different sizes of Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages. What I really like are the different shapes of the bandages. They aren’t the conventional bandage shape (see photos). True to the Comfort Pals tagline, the Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages also have a smooth velvet-like texture and it’s latex free so that’s great for anyone who might have sensitivities to latex!
The Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages also conform really well to the shape of the skin in the affected area and they’re super easy to put on. They wrapped easily around my kid’s fingers for paper cuts and on different angular areas for those summer scrapes and cuts. Because the Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages hug the skin better, you end up getting a better seal than some of the other more conventional bandages (I don’t know about you but I find the conventional bandages gape on the edges with the gauge which gives germs a chance to enter the broken skin). I much prefer the texture of these Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages.
One thing: Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages are obviously NOT waterproof. They are great but they don’t last long after excessive handwashing so we now use them for overnight coverage on scrapes and bruises or she gets them on her legs and knees that don’t get frequent washing during the day. The hands now under the strict protection of the Nexcare waterproof tattoo bandages.
My kid however, absolutely loves the Madagascar designs. Each of the 4 penguins makes their own debut and Phil and Mason (those crazy chimps) appear on one of the styles for the bigger bandages. She prattles on about how she hopes she’ll get Rico today, Skipper on another, hopes for all 4 penguins or Phil and Mason.
Hands down, the cute factor on these Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages, with the Penguins of Madagascar, has won over my kid. Now, whenever she gets a cut or scrape, that’s all she asks for. “Can I have Skipper/Rico/Kowalski/Private?…oh, I want Phil and Mason this time..” There are no tears anymore. Now, she picks herself up with an obviously irritated tone in her voice, explaining how she fell and quickly switches gears to tell me what Madagascar bandage she wants. Although these Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages are not waterproof, I’d still buy them because of the other features that they have: soft texture, latex free, better seal around the affected broken skin more so than the conventionally shaped bandage.
So, yes, we’ll be buying another box of Nexcare Comfort Pals bandages soon enough. After all, it’s summer time and with all those exposed knees and shins….well, you know. 🙂
