My daughter and I started as a way to share our thoughts and opinions on the basic things we do in our family. We do product reviews, post recipes (whenever I have the guts to share), and talk about events or ideas that we get. This is an update post with special thanks to Erin for sending me an email regarding the Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion.

I had originally posted this product review back in January 28, 2012 which would make it just over a year ago. Well, I have to tell you all, as I told Erin, that I must have been sleeping or nearly asleep when I first did this product review. Somewhere along the way, I completely neglected to include the list of ingredients for the Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion. Erin was kind enough to send me an email inquiring about the ingredient list and so all of us benefit because I’m now updating the post.

For those of you interested in knowing, here are the ingredients used in the Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion: aqua (purified water) with certified organic botanicals: camellia sinensis extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, glycerin, glyceryl stearate, cocoglycerides, dicaprylyl ether, vegetable oil, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, hydrogenated vegetable oil, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, sodium stearayl glutamate, xanthan gum, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A palmitate), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E acetate), phenxyethanol, sodium benzoate.  I’ve also included a photo image of the ingredient list. It’s not great because of the shape of the bottle but hopefully, you can see most of the words. Sorry, photography is just not my forte!

My thoughts on the list of ingredients? I don’t know what most of all this stuff means but I’m glad that the Live Clean company made the product 98% plant ingredients and ecofriendly. It’s phthalate free, paraben free, and is made for sensitive skin. The Live Clean Sensitive Skin fragrance free lotion is also petroleum free, mineral oil free, and is purely vegan. Probably the only question mark in my head is the use of sodium benzoate which some might find contentious.

So, now you all know the full scoop and again, special thanks to Erin for the email and for sending a shout out our way. If you’d like to drop me a line, feel free to do so by making a comment below (sorry, you’ll have to register to the site first, it’s a pain I know, but it removes all the fakers out there) or you can simply send me an email using our website name: and then add the to it.

Take care and come back often to see our daily posts!

Winter does a terrible number on my skin. My hands look like I wash them with sandpaper. Okay, maybe my hands don’t look that bad, but they’re running a close second to the sandpaper effect. Needless to say, I’m in serious need of some moisturizing lotion before they get any worse. On top of that, I’ve become pickier in my choice of lotions because I’ve grown more aware of all the chemicals and ingredients that I don’t want in my lotion since it all gets absorbed straight into my body. You can imagine how happy I was when I stumbled upon the Live Clean line at my local pharmacy. Since I’ve never tried the Live Clean skin care line, I decided to get the Live Clean sensitive skin fragrance free lotion for my poor moisture deprived hands and do a product review for

Product Review: Live Clean sensitive skin lotion

Honestly, this was the first time that I had ever seen the Live Clean fragrance free body lotion and I was immediately attracted by its claim to be 98% plant ingredients and ecofriendly. It’s phthalate free (awesome!), paraben free (super awesome) and is made for sensitive skin (super duper awesome!).  Read the back carefully and you also find out that it’s petroleum free, mineral oil free, and is purely vegan. Often times, I buy cream or lotion just for my daughter and I’ll get a separate one for myself but this one sounded as though I might actually be okay with her using it too. I also happen to like that it’s made in Canada.

Now for the real test: I apply the Live Clean fragrance free body lotion on to my poor dry hands and instantly, I feel quenched. This Live Clean fragrance free body lotion leaves my skin feeling nourished but not oily which is a huge bonus because I often find creams to be too heavy or oily. It absorbs into my skin without feeling too heavy and I don’t feel like it’ll clog my pores. More importantly, it really is fragrance free.

Have you ever tried a fragrance free skin lotion only to have your hands smelling like ‘glue’? Well, at least that’s what my husband says. There’s just this really odd after smell to some fragrance free creams that you seriously start to wonder what is in them that makes it smell so off putting. Well, this Live Clean fragrance free body lotion is different. It truly smells like nothing and that is very very cool. In fact, I have the Live Clean fragrance free body lotion on my hands now as I type and I smell nothing. My hands simply feel soft. For someone who usually doesn’t have soft hands, this is a major selling factor for me.

It’s now been a month since I’ve been using this Live Clean fragrance free body lotion and I have to tell you that I really do like it. This lotion seems to work well with my skin. I haven’t broken out and my hands feel nourished and loved. My skin feels really good. There are days when my hands will feel excessively dry because I’ve washed them so much (usually induced by overzealous holiday baking) so this Live Clean fragrance free body lotion was a welcome reprieve and helped to keep my hands afloat during those busy holiday weeks.

Will I ever buy the Live Clean fragrance free body lotion again? Yes, absolutely. It’s at a decent price point for the size that I got. Mine was just under $6 for 227mL which I think is reasonable. The only thing that drives me a little nuts about this product is the cap. It’s not the easiest lotion cap to open and it’s the hardest one to close. Thus, to avoid this hassle, I actually twist off the cap and squeeze directly from the tube. I simply can’t be bothered to fiddle with it. But, this faulty lid won’t stop me from getting the Live Clean fragrance free body lotion again in the future. My hands will love me for it!

Reminder: this review of the Live Clean fragrance free body lotion is by and no one else. This is my opinion of Live Clean fragrance free body lotion and no one else’s.  If you see this review anywhere else except on my site at, know that I have not consented to having any part of this review (or this website for that matter), to be re-produced, copied, or re-printed anywhere else. It’s sad that I now have to be mindful of using such language to make sure others don’t just swipe away the material that I’ve so carefully typed up. I mean, after all, who’s the one coming up with all these opinions? Me, of course! Me, myself, and I here at thingsthatwedo dot com!

The live clean lotion sounds great. I have super sensitive skin and know all things labelled “for sensitive skin do not fit all of us who do suffer with irritation.I stumbled on live clean’s baby wash and tried it on mt face. Some well known baby washes have wreaked havoc on my skin. But not this one. My pores are reduced in size which is a bonus of this product. I have not broken out in the usual itchy rash and other irritating things such as dryness or excess oiliness. Just super soft skin. I hope to try and be happy with many more live clean products. Long live Canadian products

Hi Pauline, thanks for this great comment and feedback and I have to agree with you: go go Canadian products! We’re still using the Live Clean Sensitive Skin lotion and it’s still working well on my skin. I haven’t tried the Live Clean’s baby wash yet but if it reduced your pores, I may just give it a try when I see it in the store next! My skin has a mind of its own so to know it worked on you sounds really promising for me. Hope you’ll visit our site again soon and let me know if you come across some other great products. If it’s good, more people should know about it! Jenna,
