Sometimes, you just need lunch quick especially when it’s almost lunch time and you’re still at the grocery store. That’s what happened to us this past weekend. Before you know it, it’s close to lunch time, we’re still at Loblaws and I have no idea what to get for lunch.
We go to the cooked meats section and of course, there’s only the garlic herb roasted chicken left and my child only likes the barbecue chicken. Right beside it are the PC hickory smoked ribs, cooked and ready to go. She says she wants the ribs but I’m not sure if she’ll like the hickory smoked flavour so I suggest getting some salmon as well. She agrees and so we pay for both and go on our merry way. The one good thing about all of this is that we now have something new to review for thingsthatwedo.com! Now, the question is, was it worth the money?

Product review: What happened?

First things first, it certainly made lunch a lot smoother and less hectic and so in that sense, it was money well spent. When we got home, all we had to do was focus on getting her backup salmon lunch ready. Mom and dad (i.e. me the crazy mom at thingsthatwedo.com and sidekick dad) were going to eat the PC hickory smoked ribs and she could try it too. If she liked it, of course, she could eat it as well.
Food is all ready and we settle in for lunch, a tad late but nowhere as late as if we did it all from scratch. The husband and I take our first bite and immediately, we both thank our lucky stars for getting the salmon. The PC hickory smoked ribs were fine for us but definitely were NOT okay for her. From our taste buds’ perspective, the ribs were much too spicy and much too salty for a child. I can’t handle much heat so I even found them too spicy. Had we not purchased the salmon as a backup lunch for her, I would have felt like the worst mom!
As food for just the adults, the PC hickory smoked ribs would be a good quick meal either for lunch or dinner especially when you’re running late and need to get food on the table quickly. From a cost perspective, these ribs are definitely cheaper than getting a rack of ribs at a local restaurant. The hubby and I were more than satisfied with one rack of ribs split between the two of us.

Verdict:

Will we buy these PC Hickory Smoked ribs ever again? Probably not. For our family, I find the ribs too salty and too spicy. I can’t imagine getting these ribs on a regular basis and then having to always make a second lunch for my child because she can’t eat them. That seems like double the work that I was trying to avoid in the first place! So, for us, this PC product is a no go.
Let me end off this product review by stipulating the obvious. This product review on the PC hickory smoked ribs is by ThingsThatWeDo.com and no one else. If you see this review anywhere else except on my site at thingsthatwedo.com, know that I have not consented to having any part of this product review (or this website for that matter), to be re-produced, copied, or re-printed anywhere else. It’s sad that I now have to be mindful of using such language to make sure others don’t just swipe away the material that I’ve so carefully typed up. I mean, after all, who’s the one coming up with all these opinions? Me, of course! Me, myself, and I here at thingsthatwedo dot com!
