thingsthatwedo.com - nature-valley-roasted-nut-crunch-bars

Move over potato chip. See you later rice cracker. There is a new fave in town. I don’t know who came up with this concoction over at General Mills but I’m absolutely in love with these Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch Bars with Roasted Peanuts and Sunflower Seeds. Yes, it’s a mouthful but there are quite a few different flavours in this line up and I’m only vouching for the Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch Bars with Roasted Peanuts and Sunflower Seeds. I tried another flavour which paled in comparison so I’m not even going to mention it.

If you want crunch that reminds you of peanut brittle (but better), look no further. These Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch Bars with Roasted Peanuts and Sunflower Seeds are it. - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com book review - land of stories

My big kid loves to read, has loved reading ever since she was a teeny weeny and continues to love reading. Today’s post is about The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer. Book 1, The Wishing Spell is featured in the photo but this really isn’t much of a book review as it is a huge ‘thank you’ to authors like Chris Colfer for breathing life into words. - Continue Reading

thingsthatwedo.com - tide big bar

Occasionally, I’ll walk into a store just to browse. It’s a rare moment when I feel like I have a few moments to spare but I had one of those days a little while back and browse I did.

There I was, strolling along and this is what I stumble upon.

A Tide Big Bar?

Huh.

I had no idea Tide made bars like this. Now, I have no idea what the bar itself says but I’m guessing if it’s made by Tide, it’s likely a detergent bar. Prior to me stumbling into this store I only knew of the typical Tide products, liquid laundry detergent and such but a Tide Big Bar?

I was surprised! I almost bought it just so I could see what was inside but then I didn’t want to be wasteful since I use a different brand of laundry detergent.

It’s funny how something so small could be so intriguing. Why? Because this Tide Big Bar was unexpected and out of the norm. I blurred out the price and name of the store because I didn’t want the focus of the post to be about any of that. For me, it was purely the surprise of seeing a familiar name with an unfamiliar product.

Has anyone used a Tide Big Bar? Let me know if you have!

thingsthatwedo.com - l'ancetre organic applewood smoked cheddar

Confession: I do love cheese. Cheese doesn’t always love me but I do love cheese (well, most cheeses. I still haven’t figured out brie yet). L’Ancetre however, is one company that never ceases to amaze me.

I’ve had the pleasure of testing out quite a few of the L’Ancetre cheeses and they never disappoint. However, I have to say, the L’Ancetre organic applewood double smoked cheddar is one of my favourites. So much flavour, so much personality, and so much really good quality cheese.

thingsthatwedo.com pic - kids 2015

Uh… I am REALLY struggling with this post. No, in fact, I’m really struggling with time itself. I started writing this post well before the first day of September. In the time it took me to sneeze and grab a tissue, days had gone by and I’m now staring at the September calendar. I take a closer look: it’s September 8th?!

Are you kidding me?!

Can someone please tell me where all those other hot summer months went? Don’t get me wrong, I noticed the excessively hot humid weather (which I found incredibly creepy, but that’s a completely different story for another day) and I was quite aware that summer was in full bloom but time just moved so quickly. In a blink of an eye, we’ve now hit September and school has already started.

Wow.

Well, the good news: Christmas holidays are right around the corner!

thingsthatwedo.com pic - christmas

Hahahaha….one can only hope (minus all the yucky winter germs – cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze please! Put that elbow to good use!).

Sigh.

I always feel so frazzled right before school starts – so much to do and so little time to do it. I didn’t bake all summer long and the weekend before school starts, I baked a cinnamon coffee cake, cornbread, and soft ginger cookies to make sure I had the school snacks covered. There were papers to rummage through, shelves to organize, and a whole lot of cleaning.

Give it a few weeks though and I know the wheels will be in full motion, a rhythm will be in place, and everything will seem familiar again.

For now, I’m just going to politely smile and wait for that day to arrive.
