thingsthatwedo.com - l'ancetre organic half salt cheddar cheese

Am I picky about my food? I don’t think so. Certainly, there are some foods that I just can’t eat. Spicy foods are a no-go for me and I prefer not to eat foods from a tin can but for the most part, I’d like to think I’m pretty easy going (granted, I’m not overly adventurous but still…).

I also happen to be a big cheese lover but I’ve come to realize that not all cheeses are equal. I mean, there’s cheese and then there are all the cheeses made by the amazing folks at L’Ancetre. In the past, I was fortunate enough to test out some of their cheeses and just recently, they reached out and I learned about their organic half salt cheddar cheese. With 85mg of sodium in 30g of cheese, this L’Ancetre Le St-Grégoire organic half salt cheddar cheese is significantly lower in sodium than a lot of the cheeses out on the marketplace.

thingsthatwedo.com - zootopiaWho has time, really? I take a few days off work and I still worry about work and it’s a constant chatter in the back of my mind. I try to switch it off and most days it works but it does get the better of me at times.

Then Zootopia rolls in and my big kid and I can’t wait to see it in the theatre. Even the hubby wants to watch it. So, finally, there we are at the theatre lining up to get our tickets. Only problem is, the tickets for the timeslot we want to watch is

All

Sold

Out.

Talk about disappointment. There we were, in the lineup, trying to decide if we’d stick around for a later show. In the end, we decided to purchase tickets for the later afternoon show and spent a few hours just hanging out together as a family. We talked, we laughed, and we had a lot of fun.

Zootopia was well worth the wait and certainly helped to end the day on a positive note. If you need an easy children’s movie to watch with a lot of wit and action, this just might be the one for you. - Continue Reading

Wow, no way.

First day of Spring?

I’m shocked and stunned speechless which I’m perfectly fine with. I love Spring. Sure, there’s still some snow on the ground but everything just seems so much more tolerable. Winter always seems to drag on for so long but the minute Spring arrives, there’s hope in sight that it’s almost over.

Sigh, it’s such a good feeling.

With the intermittent posting, I’m not going to lie, time seems to fly by even more quickly than it used to. The pace is certainly a lot more manageable given my increased ‘to do’ list at work. I miss writing daily and I know many of you do as well but this was perhaps one of the wiser choices I’ve made recently.

What have I been doing with all my extra spare time at night? Well, sometimes I bake or prep for baking and other times I actually sit and read a book – how neat is that?! Perhaps what I appreciate most is that I have a bit more time to relax and breathe where I don’t feel as though I need to run at a hundred miles an hour just to make sure I’ve covered basic needs.

Things to do: as Spring rolls in let’s all try to find a better work-life balance. Even small adjustments can lead to big changes!

thingsthatwedo.com - soft ginger cookies

Soft ginger cookies. Fragrant and warm. Soft ginger cookies have always seemed like such a difficult cookie to make. I don’t know why I thought that way but I’m pretty sure I was scared by the idea of using molasses. Ever since I made those spice bars I’ve become a little bit more adventurous with molasses (I mean, I can’t leave an opened container of molasses lying around in the home forever) and baked some seriously delicious soft ginger cookies.

Honestly, I was surprised at how well these turned out. These ginger cookies are soft, cute, and would make a really good housewarming gift. Who knew I could bake ginger cookies? The best part is, I’ve reduced the amount of sugar used so they’re not quite as sweet as many of the store bought versions. - Continue Reading
