Sigh…you know you’re getting older when you start thinking about ways to take better care of yourself. Generally speaking, my skin is quite good. Sure it’s a little bit on the sensitive side but for the most part, I’ve got no complaints. However, skin care maintenance is important so I do use eye cream to make sure I look presentable the next morning when I’m getting ready to go to work. A while ago, there was a sale on the Garnier Nutritioniste Ultralift anti-wrinkle firming eye cream and I’ve never used it before but considering it was on sale for $14.99 when my usual brand was close to $20, I decided it was worth a switch. I bought the Garnier Nutritioniste Eye Cream and decided to do a product review on it for ThingsThatWeDo.com.

Wow, how’s that for a mouthful of toothpaste? I have to tell you all that I haven’t been happy with my options for toothpaste for a while now. I recognize it’s a vital part of keeping your teeth clean. Everyone needs toothpaste but do I really need all the ingredients that are listed on my toothpaste tube? I can’t pronounce 99% of it and that has always worried me so I’ve been looking for other alternatives. Recently, I discovered that Tom’s of Maine  had a toothpaste line and couldn’t wait to try it. I’ve used other Tom’s of Maine products before but never their toothpaste so here’s my review for thingsthatwedo.com on Tom’s natural with fluoride whole care peppermint toothpaste.

In our home, we call these tasty treats sha sha cookies but others may call them ginger snaps or ginger cookies. Made by the ShaSha Co., a well known Canadian artisan bakery, these sha sha cookies have become a household favourite. They have a variety of different products but my child’s current favourite is the Sha Sha original ginger snaps cookies with their adorable heart shape and cool little patterns, which is why they’re being reviewed here for ThingsThatWeDo.com.

If you’ve read my previous posts, you’ll know that I love the coconut (think back to the Nutiva coconut manna spread and the coconut snowballs we made) so is it any wonder that I couldn’t resist buying the Organix Nourishing coconut milk shampoo? On top of that, it was a value size bottle with 50% more (cool!) and it was a decent price at $5.99 for a 577mL bottle. Sure, it’s not free which would have been awesome but hey, it had coconut! I popped the shampoo lid open at the store to take a little smell and have to admit that it smelled divinely coconut so here I am reviewing it for ThingsThatWeDo.com.

I cannot even begin to tell you all how excited we are to be reviewing the Playmobil fully furnished school. It has got to be the coolest toy we have purchased to date. This is an advanced notice post because it will take me some time to write a cohesive product review on the Playmobil school. One thing I can tell you is that it is completely worth the money spent. We purchased it for under $210 and it came fully furnished with children, teachers, furniture, a skeleton, musical instruments and as my daughter was quick to point out, “It even has TOILETS!”. Go figure.

As my title suggests, I truly believe this Playmobil school should rule the roost in children’s homes. There is so much to learn and so much to do beyond anything that the Barbie world can offer. Now, this is not to say that I’m fully against the whole Barbie empire. However, I am suggesting that there are other alternatives and Playmobil is the way to go.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Playmobil school. I’m still assembling it all together but once it’s all done, I’ll post more photos and will review more thoroughly. In the meantime, here’s a quick sneak peek. My kid decided to have all the Playmobil children leave their backpacks near the bulletin board by the front door of the school. You have to admit, it’s a pretty cute setup, right? ;)

The world is full of children’s books but I have to say that they really aren’t all created equal and you know, price isn’t necessarily a good gauge of how good a children’s book will be. I’ve bought some children’s books at rock bottom prices (some for under a dollar because they were on clearance) and others at a premium because I really really thought they were worth the money. I don’t just buy books because they have a certain character in them so my main goal is finding a good storyline that my child will enjoy. All that rambling leads me to the book “Bear Feels Scared” by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Jane Chapman. This “Bear Feels Scared” book is worth a read and definitely worth a buy and of course is worth a review for thingsthatwedo.com

Try saying that 5 times quickly! I recently scored a free loaf of the Stonemill Bakehouse bread courtesy of a coupon from a fellow colleague of mine. Prior to receiving the coupon, I had never even heard of Stonemill Bakehouse before so I was interested in trying it out and having a coupon for a free loaf certainly helps. Going to my local Loblaws, I was surprised to see that there were many different varieties to choose from. We opted for the Grains and Honey bread since we’ve had similar breads made by other companies so it would give us a chance to do a quick comparison for thingsthatwedo.com.

Bamboo products are the latest craze to hit the market but I haven’t really tried anything until now. I recently walked into a new children’s store because I was looking for some new face cloths for my child. Independence for children her age is huge at this age and I wanted some smaller face cloths so she could use them without help from me. Big face cloths are hard for little hands to wring out so I was pleasantly surprised to find these Bamboobino washcloths. Sure, they were intended to be used as washcloths for babies, but who cares?!  On touch and size alone, I purchased them and decided to take them home for a product review for thingsthatwedo.com.
