Lately, my little kiddie (shall I call her the child boss of thingsthatwedo.com? ;)) has been really into eating salmon. Ever since dad discovered how to grill it with a little bit of sea salt, pepper, and garlic powder, she will happily eat it once a week. Today, we paired it with some pasta and some green peas and corn both of which were chosen by her. – Continue Reading

For a child, the concept of being ‘thankful’ isn’t an easy one to master. I mean, what does being ‘thankful’ really mean to a child? For a young child, history was whatever happened yesterday. Whenever I try to explain about things that happened in the past, my child will often use me as a reference point. “Was that before you were born, mommy?” is a phrase I hear often.
Thus, with Thanksgiving comes the conversations of where the holiday comes from and why.  This little mommy at thingsthatwedo.com is thankful for all the little things in life but more importantly, I’m the luckiest mommy to have a kid like her to be my daughter.
Families come in many different shapes and sizes and in many different compositions. Some families are ones we were born into, some families are ones bonded together by common experiences. For all the families out there celebrating this particular holiday, we at thingsthatwedo.com wish you all the fondness of memories old and new.

A little while ago, I did a product review on the Envirosax Slingsax (click here if you haven’t seen it yet) and now I’ve decided to do a review on the Envirosax 2 handle reusable bag. I purchased both Envirosax products at the same time but didn’t get a chance to do this review until now because it’s taken me, this mom at thingsthatwedo.com, until now to use it and give a decent review about your basic average Envirosax reusable bag. So, is this Envirosax bag any better than the grocery store reusable bag that you can purchase?

I confess, here at thingsthatwedo.com, I spend a lot of time trying out new products that maybe I wouldn’t test out if it weren’t for this website. Sometimes, we find foods and things we really like. Other times, we regret ever setting eyes on a certain product (I still can’t look at the Uncle Bens rice and sauce product that I reviewed a while back. It just creeps me out)
During a recent trip to our local Loblaws, I wandered through the aisles as I often do and came across this product from their PC Organics line: PC Organics mini granola bars that come in blueberry and raspberry. I read the ingredients and it’s not bad, the list is long but at least most of it is organic so I decided to buy it and give it a test drive for a product review. So, was this PC product worth the money I spent on it?

For those of you who follow my daily blogs here at thingsthatwedo.com, I don’t think it’ll surprise any of you to know that shopping isn’t my favourite past time. I’m not your daily or weekly mall shopper. Whenever possible, I like to cut down on my travel time because I’d much rather hang out with my kid than mall hop. It’s just not me to browse. Why mention all of this now? Well, our family has been talking about getting a pepper mill for the longest time because my daughter has recently become more involved in the cooking process. She’ll help cook whenever she’s able, doing whichever parts are safe for her to do.
As a seasoning, I’d much rather her focus on pepper than on salt. She’s seen pepper mills at the different restaurants we go to and has mentioned that she’d like to get a pepper mill for home so that she could use it to. Thus, during a recent lunch hour walk, I went into a nearby kitchen store and noticed they had a huge section of pepper mills. The one you see is the one I decided to buy – a Trudeau pepper mill. Was it cheap? Nope, not really so what made me buy it?

Once upon a time, I used to make my own spinach rolls or ‘spanakopita’ back in the days when I had more time on my hands. I’d get my own phyllo, make my own spinach and feta cheese filling, and roll away to my hearts content. But, that was back then.  As if I wasn’t busy enough, I then started to go on this review journey with thingsthatwedo.com writing reviews whenever I can. While I haven’t stopped loving spinach rolls, I just choose to use my time differently now.
Recently, a colleague of mine highly recommended this brand of spinach rolls to me. I can’t even give you the name of the product because I can’t read it and I don’t think I have Greek characters on my computer so you’ll just have to go by the photos I have here. She actually got me the bag and since then, I’ve purchased my own bag at my local supermarket. If you see it at your grocery store, just try them and let me know what you think!

Okay, I guess it’s now safe to put away the air conditioners and fans. I think I can say this given that while this mom at thingsthatwedo.com is firing away on the computer, I’m wearing fuzzy socks to keep my feet warm and an oversized sweater to prevent hypothermia from kicking in. Well, maybe it’s not that bad, but you get my drift. (ha ha, pun intended).
As such, I felt obligated to let you all know that gone are the ice cream reviews (unless I discover something that MUST be reviewed). Say hello to the more wintry reviews, including anything I can think of that might make a parent’s life easier.
So, stay tuned and be sure to grab a cup of hot chocolate to enjoy while you’re reading all of our reviews here at thingsthatwedo.com!

Rating: 5/5 (or 5 successful operations)

Once upon a time when I was a wee child, I remember having the Operation game in my possession. I remember trying so desperately to remove all of the plastic pieces without setting off the alarm because golly gee, that alarm was loud! So, you can imagine how excited I was when my child received this as a gift. This Operation game would become a new activity for us to do together as a family but it also meant another new product to review for our site at ThingsThatWeDo.com. The question then becomes, does this new Operation game play as well as the old version that I had once upon a time?

Here at ThingsThatWeDo.com, you all know by now that I’m constantly trying to find ways to jazz up breakfast but sometimes, all I can think of is cereal. Thankfully, I stumbled across Nature’s Path Vanilla Almond Flax Plus Granola (aka the vanilla almond cereal, in my house). I’m quite finicky when it comes to cereals because many companies add BHT to the packaging which they claim helps to maintain product freshness. However, if Nature’s Path and other companies don’t need it, then there’s no reason to use it. When I spotted this cereal at the store, I was instantly gravitated to the combination of flavours: a little bit of flax, a bit of almonds, some rolled oats, and a dash of vanilla, how could I not pick this up?

Are Mondays ever happy? Here at ThingsThatWeDo.com, Mondays  symbolize the beginning of yet another hectic week.  The week is filled with work, school, homework, activities, and oh look,  figuring out what breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be. At the same time, the good news is, Friday is one day closer. Weekends are consistently too short and are often filled with more chores, but at least there’s more family time and at ThingsThatWeDo, family time is key.
I have to be honest and let you all know that I haven’t been writing as many product reviews because I am trying to enhance the copyright features of the site. Who knew someone out there thought my material would be good enough to be copied and posted elsewhere? Soooo NOT cool. As such, you’ll start to see that I’ll be incorporating more words like our website name and I hope you all won’t find it too awkward to see it. Think of it as a branding gimmick. 😉
