It’s that time of the year again. Grab the candy and the costumes, it’s Halloween!  This year, my kiddie will be going out as a bouquet of flowers and I’ve made doubly sure that everyone from a mile away can see her. After all, safety comes first! We’ve got glow sticks, jingly bells so you can also hear her from a mile away and we even have some of that reflective tape stuff.

So, enjoy your trick or treating and be sure to triple check the children’s goodies before they eat them!

Consider this a quick update to yesterday’s disappointing blog review on the Oxo Good Grips pancake turner.  Here I am stuck with this gigantic pancake turner which I’m going to call a spatula since I can’t quite figure out the difference (I can hear the chefs around the world groaning at me already).  I’ve now spent my hard earned money on a kitchen utensil that would most likely be collecting dust since the husband has made it quite clear that he doesn’t plan on using it any time soon.  So, what am I going to do with it now?

Call them pancakes, flapjacks, hot cakes, whatever, our family eats pancakes. If we have time, we try to make pancakes on the weekend. We’ve always used a silicon spatula but recently, I destroyed it (I think time did, but I’ll take the blame). A trip to a local kitchen store introduced me to the Oxo Good Grips Pancake Turner. I liked that it was made of silicon but I was unsure of its design. It seemed awfully big for a pancake turner but I thought I’d give it a try. After all, how can thingsthatwedo.com be a blog review site if I don’t try things out for you?

Yep, I’m trying another snack item and I have to say, I had reservations about this product. Truth be told, I wasn’t interested in them but there was a sale at the grocery store so I picked up these snack pack Rold Gold Carmelized Pretzels to complete the deal. I didn’t have any high hopes because I’m generally not a pretzel fan (I find them too salty) but hey, as the main tester for thingsthatwedo.com, I knew I had to be adventurous and test them out! So, the question is, were these Rold Gold Carmelized Pretzels worth buying and how did they taste?

I have to admit that it is a really cool thing when your own child comes up with these really neat and unique ideas. For those of you following my blog, you’ll know that this thingsthatwedo.com mom made a very cool and snazzy tree costume for her child last Halloween. Well, this year, after much conversation and thought, my child has decided that she will be a bouquet of flowers OR a flower garden OR a flower girl. I’m fine with whatever she decides since the flower costume will look the same no matter what. You see, it’s all a play on words with some minor adjustments

So, exactly what am I doing you ask? Well, she suggested that we use an old t-shirt as the backdrop for the costume. We then took a trip to the big dollar store and purchased a bunch of synthetic flowers with some greenery that I sewed on to the t-shirt. The final costume is amazing with dangling stems made from remnants of last year’s green fabric!

Now that she’s a year older, my wee child is also helping to craft out her Halloween costume. She’s helped to do some sewing and she certainly helped to remove the synthetic flowers from their fake plastic stems.

The costume’s not completely done yet but we’re getting there, one stitch at a time! What will your child be for Halloween?

Rainy weather was the perfect opportunity for my little kid to test drive her new Bogs in wet swishy swashy weather. After all, the Bogs are made with a durable rubber and are designed with a waterproof upper so they should withstand a little bit of water, right?  Besides, I’ve seen other kids wear them in the rain so why not give the Bogs  a go before the snow comes? Read this thingsthatwedo.com review on the Bogs boots to see how they fared in the rain!

Hello all! Let me interrupt my daily blog posts to bring you all up to date info. For one, you know I don’t like shopping but I ventured today to get my child socks because she needed them. Lo and behold, Old Navy had a sale: extra 30% off sale items. I just scored her 8 items (7 tops: 2 long sleeves, 5 short sleeves) and a pack of 10 pairs of socks, all for $20ish. On top of that, I even scored a $10 coupon to use in the future (time limit, but still, that’s an awesome deal!).  This is an awesome opportunity to stock up! Go grab it before it’s gone!

Okay, I’m sorry, I apologize, I am having yet another snacking moment and decided to buy the Harvest Cheddar SunChips. What can I say, I was feeling a little mousey and wanted something to nibble on. This would be the first bag of SunChips I’ve bought since they switched over to the loud crackly bag. What’s my reason for buying them this time? Well, I wanted something to chew on that was crunchy but I didn’t want potato chips because a part of my brain was telling me that there must be a somewhat healthier option out there for me. So, my eyes gravitate towards the SunChips brand and I reasoned that at least, it wasn’t a potato fried in oil.  Besides, I love that cheesy taste. These SunChips had to be a better alternative, right?
